Dolphins claim Nick Williams off waivers

The Dolphins confirmed Wednesday that safety Reshad Jones will miss the rest of the season with a torn rotator cuff and made it official with a roster move.

Jones has been placed on injured reserve as a result of the shoulder injury and the team filled his roster spot by claiming defensive tackle Nick Williams off of waivers from the Chiefs. Williams was waived as Kansas City made a flurry of roster moves on Tuesday.

Williams was a seventh-round pick of the Steelers in 2013, but never played in the regular season for Pittsburgh. He joined the Chiefs in 2014 and had 14 tackles in 21 games before being dropped from the roster.

The move leaves the Dolphins with three safeties on the active roster. Isa Abdul-Quddus has started all six games with Michael Thomas and Walt Aikens the others on hand heading into this weekend’s game with the Bills.
