The Chargers are hanging around.

They’ve cut their deficit to a field goal, at 30-27, with 5:59 left. Melvin Gordon’s third touchdown of the game -- two by run, the latest by pass from Philip Rivers -- cut the lead to three.

The Falcons scored three touchdowns in the second quarter but have just three points in the second half.

Falcons running back Devonta Freeman had a quiet first half but accounted for 66 total yards on the Falcons’ field goal drive early in the fourth quarter. He’s approaching 100 total yards for the game.

Gordon is up to 10 touchdowns on the season. He didn’t score a touchdown last year as a rookie.

Both teams’ young pass rushers have been productive. Vic Beasley of the Falcons and Joey Bosa of the Chargers each have two sacks.
