Once described by their own coach as soft, the Vikings may have a hard time putting an offensive line together in the future.

Via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, left guard Alex Boone was the latest Vikings blocker to go down with injury, leaving with a possible concussion in the fourth quarter.

There was no immediate word on his condition, but he was replaced by Jeremiah Sirles for the rest of the game.

The Vikings have already lost starting tackles Matt Kalil and Andre Smith to season-ending injuries, which has thrown their offense into a blender.

They’ve plugged veteran Jake Long in at left tackle and put T.J. Clemming in at right tackle, but it hasn’t helped, as they again struggled to run the ball in last night’s loss to the Bears. Sirles had started at right tackle the previous two games.

The upheaval up front has made it hard for them to sustain their hot start, which could send them looking for help prior to today’s trade deadline.
