C.J. Spiller signed with the Jets this week, which makes it three teams for the running back since the start of the 2016 season.

Spiller was released by the Saints after making the 53-man roster, but without playing in a game for the team. He had three carries and five catches in two games for the Seahawks before they decided to move on without him and you might think that it would be a blow to Spiller’s confidence to have two teams tell him he wasn’t needed any longer.

On Thursday, Spiller said that isn’t the case.

“I know I’m a great player,” Spiller said, via ESPN.com. “I know I can play in this league. My confidence is not down. I’m excited about the opportunity I have here.”

Spiller put up strong numbers for the Bills in 2012 and 2013, but he wasn’t healthy in 2014 and made little impact for the Saints after signing with them before the 2015 season. He’ll be coming in as the third running back for the Jets, so it’s unclear how many opportunities he’ll have to push things in the other direction.
