After making several game-changing plays last Sunday vs. the Eagles, Giants safety Landon Collins has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because Collins also won the award the last time the Giants played.

Collins had 12 tackles, a sack and an interception in his team’s win over the Eagles last Sunday. His early interception set up a touchdown, and the Giants hung on late to score an important NFC East victory. He also won the weekly NFC honor two weeks ago -- the Giants didn’t play in the week between -- for his two-interception game vs. the Rams in London.

Collins becomes the first player to win defensive player of the week awards in consecutive games since Troy Polamalu of the Steelers did it in 2010. Though tackles are an unofficial stat, he’s currently the only player in the NFL leading his team in tackles (69), interceptions (three) and sacks (three).
