Before protesting result of election, Mike Evans said he didn’t vote

Getty Images

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans sat during the national anthem yesterday, to protest the outcome of the election — an election which he may not have bothered to participate in.

According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Evans posted on social media last week that he did not vote.

Teammate Louis Murphy posed the question on Instagram last Tuesday: “Who voted? Who didn’t?” and “Did you #vote?”

Evans replied from his official account the simple answer “No.”

Evans wasn’t asked yesterday when discussing his displeasure with Donald Trump whether he bothered to vote. But if he didn’t, it casts his protest in a different light, and will cause many to dismiss it entirely.

Donald Trump won this election despite fewer voters than a republican in years, yet he won in a land slide – says a little something about the Democratic party doesn’t it…

The time for protest was November 8th, not the days after in Seattle, NY, Chicago, and elsewhere. Time to accept reality, and stop looking like a fool.

Someone needs to tell this guy and especially Kaepernick that they’re looking more like jokes than anything else.

Count me as someone who USED to agree with Kaepernick’s right to protest. I believe in the old saw, if you don’t vote, you don’t get to complain.,

If you can’t be bothered to vote, you lose your right to have an opinion.

It’s bad enough when 49% of eligible voters can’t be bothered to vote. The only thing worse is when those non-participants think their opinion matters on anything. Their failure to show up at the polls proves it doesn’t.

    Show up or shut up.

These protests would be legitimate if what they were protesting was some kind of election fraud or disputing the legitimacy of the results.

But they’re only protesting because they lost and they want to change the rules of the game AFTER the game is already over. Idiots.

Lots of brainiacs relied on media reports that Clinton would win no matter what so they stayed home. And that’s why Trump was able to overcome the obvious voter fraud and election irregularities. Vote shaming has apparently become a thing with the left so can’t rely on polling anymore and I’m not sad to see it lose credibility.

  29. magikskillz says: Nov 14, 2016 1:12 PM

Listen Mike Evans you cannot kneel for the anthem because you already had you chance to protest and did nothing. Your opportunity to protest was by casting a ballot. Even if you disagree with Trump or Hillary why not vote for Johnson or Stein? But more importantly you can vote in state and local elections which are way more important and impact you much more directly.

By not voting Evans removed himself from local and state politics as well as national politics. The national races determine the top level, sure, but the local and state levels are where the biggest impact show.

If you didn’t vote in the election as far as I am concerned your right to protest it does not count. As a vet who hates (but supports the right to do it) the protesting of the anthem I say if you want change things then DO something about it. You might be surprised how much support you get.

That said, this twit doesn’t get to protest unless he voted. He lives in FL and he has no one to blame but himself and those like him who DIDN’T VOTE.

Crap, if you want to protest this you should be required to prove you FREAKING VOTED. If you didn’t you can’t whine.

He told everyone why he didn’t vote. He said he’s not into politics. America would be so much better off if the uninformed stayed home on Election Day rather than casting uninformed ballots.

In this election we had people voting for Trump because Hillary might have had deadly pneumonia or people voting for Hillary because Trump had the gall to call an overweight Miss Universe fat. Unbelievable. And many of these voters had no clue about the real issue at stake.

Hats off to Mike Evans for having the courage of his convictions, whether you side with him or not.

Well I’m not sure if you voted or not but if you had then you would have seen that there were like 10 or 11 “candidates” on the ballot for President. You don’t have to vote Democrat or Republican at all. Now will the person you cast your vote for win? No, but there are other options.

The fact is that the only fans who may approve of such conduct are those who don’t spend a dime supporting the league or their team. All you need to know can be seen in watching the stands during the playing of the national anthem and see how many fans are sitting.

The contrast to these idiots can be seen in the video of the paralyzed 17 year old who stood for the anthem. That video went viral, so much so that even NBC couldn’t ignore it.
