Cameron Heyward out for the season

Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward announced Tuesday in an Instagram post that he’ll miss the rest of the season.

Heyward is out because he suffered a torn pectoral. He missed two games earlier in the season with a hamstring injury but returned to play in the last two games.

“My patience will be tested but I look forward to 2017,” Heyward wrote.

Heyward, 27, is in his sixth season with the Steelers and is one of the team’s best defensive players. He has three sacks this season after posting a combined 14.5 sacks over the last two seasons.

The Steelers are 4-5 and have lost four straight. They play at Cleveland on Sunday.

And yet another damn blow to the Steelers season!

Steelers are the AFC version of the Minnesota Vikings. So promising early in the season, then injuries and losses start to add up.

Probably the hardest thing to watch was Heyward being ineffective, and Shazier getting beat downfield by Elliot. Not benefiting from their talent.

Steelers are used to this year after year. Not playing much D anyways so does it really matter. Score lots of points every week and you have a great chance to win no matter who play in this league.

Nothing to do now but tank and get a good draft. But then again we’re talking about Tomlin….never mind.

The Steelers Season is quickly heading toward the showers.

The Steelers’ invested a lot on the defensive side of the ball.

Ben… like Rogers…………Can’t carry a team. Doesn’t work in the NFL!

No one tanks a season like the Colts, no one!

Yet more excuses for the Looneys to keep Captain Obvious on board, probably give him an extension. Steelers will never see another SB ring as long as Tomlin is in charge.

Do you guys realize, because the AFC NORTH is really bad this year, the browns can still win this division? Pretty crazy huh.

Big blow to the defense. This guy is the Steelers best defensive player. Play Davis, Burns and Chickillo as much as possible and even if they cannot win the north, this season won’t be a waste. Lots of talented young guys on this squad. You gotta stay healthy and not have key guys suspended. They need to play like they have nothing to lose. The chips are stacked against them anyway.

Doesn’t matter as long as Mike Dumblin is in charge

People here saying just let the offense do it and score more points. It seems to me the trend is a really good defense and an average offense gets you deep in the playoffs and a Super Bowl. When a good offense runs into a good defense they cancel each other out.

Cleveland needs at least one win to save it from total humiliation and what better win to get than pounding the Steelers into the dirt at FirstEnergy Stadium. With no defense, either McCown or Kessler should be able to slice them up and send them to Indy for their sixth straight beatdown.

    Hey Steelers fans,
Don’t get down. This may be the year a sub .500 team from the AFCN makes it into the playoffs.
