Chuck Pagano has “all the confidence in the world” in Scott Tolzien

Andrew Luck suffered concussion symptoms and is in protocol. With a quick turnaround for the Colts, he's unlikely to play and that should help the Pittsburgh Steelers in their playoff chase.

The Colts practiced without quarterback Andrew Luck on Tuesday as Luck remains in the concussion protocol two days ahead of the team’s game against the Steelers and the chances are that Luck’s not going to get cleared in time to get on the field come Thanksgiving.

Coach Chuck Pagano didn’t offer an update on Luck’s condition beyond saying that he’s in the protocol, which is the one that matters the most for the Colts in terms of preparing for Thursday’s game. Pagano said that “time will tell” if the team decides to promote Stephen Morris from the practice squad, something that seems inevitable barring a rapid change in condition for Luck.

Pagano also didn’t commit to starting Scott Tolzien in the event Luck is ruled out of the game in what could be a bit of superfluous gamesmanship.

“I have all the confidence in the world in [Tolzien],” Pagano said.

Tolzien saw action in three games for the Packers last year and made two starts for them in 2013. Morris has never played in a regular season game.
