Jared Goff: I think we’ve got a good chance to push the ball downfield

In the aftermath of Jared Goff’s debut as the team’s starting quarterback, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said that the team “didn’t take our shots down the field” often enough in a 14-10 loss to the Dolphins.

Goff threw only five passes that traveled 10 yards or more in that game, including a Hail Mary at the end of the contest, so it won’t be hard for the Rams to take more chances than they did last weekend.

“I sure hope so,” Goff said, via the Los Angeles Times. “We’ve got some good stuff in this week, got a really good plan going. Guys look really good, look fast. And I think we’ve got a good chance to push the ball a little bit.”

The Saints are giving up 280.7 passing yards per game, which leaves them 30th in the league in pass defense and provides reason to believe there will be opportunities to open up the offense. Those opportunities have existed in the past without the Rams taking advantage of them, however, so it remains to be seen if their deeds will make good on their words.
