The Browns placed starting right guard John Greco on their injured-reserve list Monday, a day after he suffered a foot injury in a game vs. the Giants.

Greco joins starting left guard Joel Bitonio on IR. Greco has started every game this season and started two at center earlier in the season when usual starting center Cameron Erving was injured.

Browns Coach Hue Jackson told reporters he’s not sure if Greco will need surgery for his injury and that doctors are still determining the extent. Jackson called losing Greco “a huge loss” for the Browns.

A veteran of nine NFL seasons, Greco was acquired by the Browns in a trade in 2011 and has been a starter for the Browns since 2012. He’s started 66 of 85 career games.

The Browns were awarded offensive lineman Matt McCants via waivers from the Raiders, and McCants will replace Greco on the roster. A sixth-round pick of the Giants in 2012, McCants has played in 28 career games.
