Packers linebacker Clay Matthews returned to Monday night’s game in the second quarter after suffering a shoulder injury in the first quarter.

Matthews left on the Eagles’ first offensive drive after taking a stiff shot from Eagles offensive lineman Allen Barbre. He was evaluated by trainers on the sideline, then returned to the game briefly before returning to the sideline and eventually being taken back to the locker room.

He returned following the Packers’ first punt of the night with 3:28 left in the first half. After a wild start, the Packers hold a 14-7 lead.

The Packers have been hit hard by injuries and are already playing without two starting linebackers, so getting Matthews back and keeping him healthy will be key for the Packers’ chances of winning.

Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews was taken to the locker room for X-rays on his right ankle in the second quarter.
