Mark Ingram out of practice for second straight day

Los Angeles Rams v New Orleans Saints

Saints running back Mark Ingram returned from a concussion to face the Rams last Sunday and played well enough that he was named the NFC offensive player of the week in recognition of his efforts.

Ingram didn’t make it through the game unscathed, however. He’s spent this week dealing with a toe injury that has now kept him out of practice on both Wednesday and Thursday.

The Saints practice again on Friday before issuing their injury report for Sunday’s game against the Lions. It would seem unlikely that Ingram will play if he’s not able to get on the field at all before the week is out, although the Saints may have a different opinion given how long Ingram’s been in the offense.

Tim Hightower would likely see the bulk of the work out of the backfield if Ingram isn’t able to play. He had 105 total yards of offense and a 50-yard touchdown catch in the romp over the Rams.
