The Falcons stopped the Chiefs after three plays to force a punt on the opening possession of the second half.
Or so they thought. Chiefs coach Andy Reid and special teams coordinator Dave Toub had other plans.
The snap went directly to wide receiver Albert Wilson and he tore through the Falcons for a 55-yard touchdown that extended the Chiefs’ lead to 27-16 after they trailed 13-6 early in the second quarter.
Wilson’s touchdown follows an interceptions return for a score by safety Eric Berry as the Chiefs have found ways to put up points without their offense on the field. The Falcons offense was rolling early in the contest and had 14 first downs in the first quarter, but things have slowed down a bit near the end zone.
Atlanta had to settle for field goals twice in the first half and then failed to convert on a fourth down from the 10-yard-line after Wilson’s touchdown to leave more points on the board in Atlanta.
