Titans wide receiver Harry Douglas’ low block on Broncos cornerback Chris Harris during Sunday’s game touched off a scuffle on the sideline when Harris’ teammate Aqib Talib went after Douglas on the next play and led to negative reactions from both cornerbacks after the game.

The topic came up for the coaches on both teams when they spoke to the media on Monday. As you might imagine, they had different takes on Douglas’ block.

“I’m just so thankful Chris is OK. I disagree with the play, but I’ll take my opinion to the league,” Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said, via Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey said, via Terry McCormick of TitansInsider.com, that he had no problem with Douglas’ block and said it was a legal play.

As Mularkey pointed out, Douglas didn’t clip Harris, hit him from the blind side or block him when he was engaged with another player. That explains the reason why the block wasn’t penalized, even if most or many feel it was an unnecessary play by Douglas, and why it may not result in any league action this week.
