Michael Floyd arrested on DUI charges

Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd has had a mediocre season on the field and now he’s landed in trouble off of it.

The Scottsdale Police Department said, via ArizonaSports.com, that Floyd was arrested at 2:48 a.m. on Monday after being found asleep behind the wheel of his running car at an intersection in the Arizona city. Floyd was charged with two counts of DUI and one count of obstructing a roadway and failure to obey a police officer before being released later on Monday morning.

It’s not the first time Floyd has run into legal trouble because of driving under the influence. He was briefly suspended while at Notre Dame in 2011 after being stopped for running a stop sign and then arrested when police determined he had a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit. His suspension from the team did not include missing any games.

Floyd is set to be a free agent after this season. He has 33 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns this season and caught two passes for 18 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins in Miami.

Yeah, not a good look if you’re set to be a free agent in a few weeks. Much like Justin Blackmon, big-time talent but just not that into football compared to other things in life.

Jeez, what’d he do, get right off the plane home from Miami and head straight up to Scottsdale to get hammered? Good luck, MF, you’ve completely blown your contract year, and this is now the icing on the cake. You’ll probably wind up signing in Cleveland and never be heard from again.

    Free agent for life.

His play alone has cost him millions in free agency – this might cost him a chance at the rest of his career.

What he did was clearly stupid, but what is with the piled on charges? Two counts of DUI, was he driving two cars? Failure to obey a police officer, well yeah he was passed out.

He was probably hit with the Arizona “Extreme DUI” rule, where his BAC was in excess of 0.15. This triggers a more stringent penalty than a typical first offense where BAC is less than 0.15. It’s a mandatory 1 year revocation of license, heavier fines, and comes with it a criminal misdemeanor charge.

Adios and good riddance. He drops a ton of balls for someone so talented.

Guys like Michael Floyd really make us think that if not for their athletic talents 90% of these pro athletes would be in jail or working at McDonalds. Seriously, in a contract year you are having a terrible season. Larry Fitzgerald is not getting any younger and the Cardinals need to find his replacement. And then on top of that you decide to raise red flags with your off the field behavior. Congratulations sir, you might just get a ticket to a one year minimum contract if you are lucky.

The last time a Cardinals wide receiver who was up for free agency was hated like this, the only way he could redeem himself was to make an amazing TD catch and play dead for a couple of minutes before getting up off the turf. #showmethemoney

Did he start drinking on the plane, or head straight to the bars.. damn, this guy has an issue.

Soon ,the headline will be “former” NFL wide receiver Michael Floyd… That’s pretty sad, because when he was on his game,he was a pretty good receiver.

Nothing screams “give me a new contract” like a subpar season and a DUI.

Hey Floyd, nothing good happens after midnight and absolutely nothing happens in Scottsdale at 3am.

…Can we stop making McDonalds the lowest form of a job one can get? Thier food is GREAT and they DEMAND their employees act and function with a high standard…..

    Fire him.

The Arizona Red Birds are tanking and it is a delicious thing to watch.

This team has stuck with the worthless Carson Palmer who is two years past his expiration date and they have nothing to fall back on.

So nice to see this mirage of a team sink to its natural mediocre place.
