Brian Hoyer will pick a team on Thursday

It’s not known specifically where quarterback Brian Hoyer will go for what will be the seventh stop in a career that has spanned eight years. However, it’s expected that Hoyer will pick a team by Thursday.

Hoyer was having a solid season in Chicago, with six touchdown passes, no interceptions, 7.2 yards per attempt, and a passer rating of 98.0, before suffering a broken arm during a Thursday night game against the Packers. He also performed well during a yo-yo year in Houston, and before that he was solid-but-not-spectacular with his hometown Browns.

The Jets (who nearly acquired him two years ago) and 49ers reportedly are pursuing Hoyer, who will at best be a stop-gap starter wherever he goes.┬áStill only 31, he has plenty to offer in a team that doesn’t have nearly enough quarterbacks to go around.

Come Thursday, there will be one less; Hoyer will have selected his next stop.

    Please don’t pick the Texans.

This guy would be an upgrade for the Broncos. Also an upgrade for the Dolphins, Bills and Jets. Come to think of it, he’s an upgrade for the Bengals as well.

People can knock Hoyer if they want, but the fact remains that he had a winning record as a starter for the Browns. How many QBs in the last 25 or so many years can say that? He’s no savior, but he is a lot more competent than some of the other vets being trotted out around the league as stopgap measures. I wish him well wherever he decides to go.

Hoyers a good, serviceable QB who plays up or down to the talent around him. Give him good players on offense he’ll be a good QB and get you some wins. Put a poor supporting cast around him you get what you pay for.

The JETS may want him, but why would he want the Jets?

    Waiting with anticipation…..not!!!!

He’s better than Glennon. Glennon is only good because no one else is available. Hoyer with a defense would be a competitive team.

The problem Hoyer had in Cleveland was that he was not a team player…..He was unwilling to help and standoffish with the younger player he should have been mentoring, Johnny Screwball excluded. If he is over that then I would love to see him back in C-Town

    Modern-day quarterback, throw goes wide
    Today’s Brian Hoyer, dead inside

    *guitar riff*

Is he gonna go college recruit and put the hat on of the team he selects?

Hoyer is a lot like Alex Smith, but under-rated, and never found the right situation. Could turn a team like Buffalo into a team like the Chiefs.

The fact that Hoyer has options just shows the lack of quality of available starters at QB.

Words that start with over/under are one word. Just trying to help.

Hoyer has cleaned out his locker in Chicago so the Bears are apparently rolling with Connor Shaw, someone they plan to draft and a FA pickup not named Jay Cutler.

    49ers should bring him in

  19. dalcowdude says: Mar 8, 2017 2:37 PM

    Hoyer is bald

  20. rdrs68 says: Mar 8, 2017 2:41 PM

Meanwhile teams are hoping he doesn’t pick them!

  21. BayAreaBrownsBacker says: Mar 8, 2017 2:46 PM

Hoyer was 10-5 as a Browns starter and then got benched for Johnny Freaking Football. If Analytics truly work, Sashi Brown should be all over this free agent. I guarantee Kyle knows this kid can ball so I wouldn’t be shocked to see him in a 49ers uniform next season.

There is no question where Hoyer signs:

It will be for the Jets. Where he will start and revive his career.

Aaaand I was right. 49ers it is.
