Trevor Siemian, Jay Cutler reportedly on Jets radar

There’s word that the Cowboys are still trying to trade Tony Romo rather than release him and that the Broncos are one of the teams that could wind up acquiring the quarterback.

If they did, the Broncos would have Trevor Siemian and 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch on the roster behind Romo but that doesn’t have to remain the case. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Jets have been in contact with the Broncos about a trade for Siemian.

Any deal would almost certainly be contingent on the Broncos acquiring Romo as that would allow them to thin out the quarterback depth chart while adding assets to use in other areas. If that doesn’t work out, the Jets have apparently dipped their oars into other water as well.

Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that the Jets have reached out to Jay Cutler to express interest in the veteran’s services following his release from the Bears. Jets quarterback coach Jeremy Bates worked with Cutler in both Denver and Chicago, which might help make for a smoother transition on the field than the Jets would receive off of it if they wind up going the Cutler route.

I want to go 1-15, but without a drama. Then quietly land the first pick and draft a franchise QB. Will this be harder then making the playoffs?

Siemian beat out Sanchez, essentially ending Sanchez’s career and now he is going to go to Sanchez former team that drafted him and be the starter there….

While I think he’s limited, it would be a shame if Trevor Siemian got shut out of a starting job next year while Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, Brock Osweiler and Robert Griffin III might have one.

Fingers crossed that Cutler plays for the Jets.

Why would either QB want the Jets?

Sometimes the “he can’t handle the New York media” thing gets overblown. But in regards to Cutler, it will be an absolute dumpster fire, and I hope it happens just for the entertainment value.

Exactly what game film did the Jets watch that made them think they would want Siemian?

Then again its the Jets sooo…..

Can you imagine a bunch of Jets management sitting around in a meeting and someone proposing picking up Trevor Seimian?

  13. intrafinesse says: Mar 9, 2017 2:58 PM

As a Jets fan I want them to tank at 1-15.
I think Cutler is too good to make that happen, he can go 4-12 at least.

    Do it right.
Just stick with Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.

I’m a Patriots fan, and just the other day I was saying how I don’t like the Jets’ newest GM. Why? Because he was making too many smart moves by cutting old, expensive players and locker room cancers and malcontents.

Other than NE, not many smart decisions are made.

Buffalo: all those picks for the oft-injured Sammy Watkins, hiring the Buffoon Brothers Circus, and now Tyrod Taylor.

Miami: Tannehill’s outrageous contract since he’s not even the best QB on his team and the cap disaster of Suh.

Jets: Sanchez, Geno, Revis, and pretty much everything they’ve done since Belichick left.

I was worried that the NJ Jets had finally figured it out. Then, yesterday was the report they would be happy starting Geno. Today, it’s Cutler or Siemian. Same old Jets, but Siemian is the best of a bad situation.

Figures… does the pain never stop there???

  17. laxcoach37 says: Mar 9, 2017 3:18 PM

LOL… the Jets are determined to play every single “journeymen” all while nursing one failed drafted QB after another. Bite the bullet and get a real QB!!!

I’d personally love to see Cutler go to the Jets. If you think the Chicago media blasted her husband, the New York media will simply destroy him. Sorry Mrs.Cutler. Not to mention the fans in NY.

Jets are in full re build mode their GM said it themselves. They will have a top 2018 pick

  20. unclebluck says: Mar 9, 2017 3:26 PM

“Cutty” to the Jets……… Hooray says the rest of the AFC East!!

  21. futures44 says: Mar 9, 2017 3:40 PM

Cutler to new York perfect match. Jay doesn’t even like football. Just like the tampering with Revis, this will blow up in the jets face. As a Pats fan and wanting the old rivalry back. This is what the Jets should do but won’t, why because they are the Jets. Trade that pain in the ass Richardson to the bengals and get AJ McCarron, the guy is a winner. Then draft Fournette who will be a beast in the NFL Then add an explosive receiver now that Brandon is gone and maybee Decker also.

First of all, any sentence stating “Chris Mortensen of ESPN” should cease to be read any further.

    i will take siemian

if the jets get cutler im not even gonna bother watching

  24. ace24xx says: Mar 9, 2017 5:39 PM

Jets have an opportunity to trade a 7th round pick for the best QB available and that guy is Tony Romo.

  25. bears5683 says: Mar 9, 2017 8:40 PM

Cutler would get routed by the Patriots once every 3-4 years/ 3 times in his 11 year career. Now he can get routed twice a year.

I like Siemian, but the fact that the last QB the Jets got from Denver was Tebow, so I wouldn’t deal for him.
