Browns part ways with three players

The Browns have 11 draft picks at their disposal and they made some space for the players they’ll select or sign as undrafted free agents on Thursday.

The team announced that they have parted ways with three players. They released offensive lineman Alvin Bailey and waived defensive backs Trae Elston and Tracy Howard.

Bailey started five games for the Browns last season, but the additions of Kevin Zeitler and J.C. Tretter in free agency have changed the makeup of the line in Cleveland. Bailey also served a two-game suspension late in the season as a result of an arrest for driving under the influence.

Howard played in 15 games and made three starts after making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2016. Elston was inactive for two games near the end of the season and also spent time on Cleveland’s practice squad.

When you’ve been dropped by the Browns, you really have to face that you’re at the end of the road.

Phrased another way, the Browns just made three players very happy.

Since the Barneys still need OL help they should jump at Bailey and the big plus is he already has and arrest record.

Usually getting let go from job means 3rd prize -Hence Mitch and Murray -BUT if you’re let go by the Browns as low as that must feel. Couldn’t it feel like 1st prize as in, yes get me the hell outta here? These guys should celebrate this at Dave and Busters tonight.

A bit surprised about Bailey. He seemed like a decent backup.

Pure speculation, but I wonder if Bailey has a suspension coming. That DUI would put him straight into stage 2 or 3 of the substance abuse program, I believe.

    They’ve been paroled!

    Congrats guys!

Those saying any team should jump at Bailey when the Browns cut him…i question that thought. The Browns line was a disaster last year. Bailey had an opportunity to be a difference maker on a team lacking talent and he didn’t help. As bad as the Browns were/are, there is no position that they are deep enough to cast off talented players. Translation, Bailey isn’t someone any team should be clamouring for.

Being released by the Cleveland Dog Piles is like being put on parole.

Cowboys should give Elston a look. They need DBs and Brown showed them last year what an overlooked guy can do.
