Saints start signing their draft picks

The number of unsigned picks around the league is dwindling and should come down even more now that the Saints have started signing their picks.

New Orleans has been one of the few holdouts around the league, but it looks like they’re ready to turn their attention toward getting players under contract. Herbie Teope of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports they’ve signed third-rounder Trey Hendrickson and Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports sixth-round pickĀ Al-Quadin Muhammad has agreed to a four-year deal as well.

Both players will be vying for snaps on the defensive line. Hendrickson had 29.5 sacks at Florida Atlantic and tested well in drills at the combine, which should put him in the running for a pass rushing role early in his time with the Saints.

Muhammad last played for the University of Miami in 2015 and sat out last season after plans to transfer didn’t work out. He was also suspended for the entire 2014 season, so he doesn’t bring much experience with him to the NFL.

I’m actually feeling optimistic about this season! Anyone on this blog for the past five years KNOWS that I wasn’t blogging ANYTHING optimistic, the past two seasons.

Trey Hendrikson may not be a full fledged Saint yet, but he’s working on getting the look down.

With last year’s injured players returning healthy, new free agents and top draft picks added, along with new good coaches, The Saints defense will be much improvedā€¦ perhaps top 10. With their offense, Saints games will be the most spectacular to watch this season!
