LeSean McCoy recruits Jeremy Maclin to Buffalo

It’s unclear whether Bills G.M. Brandon Beane or coach Sean McDermott want receiver Jeremy Maclin in Buffalo. Bills running back LeSean McCoy definitely does.

Speaking at his charity softball event on Sunday, McCoy said he has been recruiting his former Eagles teammate. Via Mike Rodak of ESPN.com, McCoy added, “Don’t be surprised if it happens.”

McCoy added that he has no inside information, but he said he has been speaking with Maclin.

The Chiefs abruptly cut Maclin on Friday evening, creating $10 million in cap space. The move made Maclin an immediate free agent.

Maclin has extensive experience in the West Coast-style passing offense, spending most of his career in Andy Reid’s version of it. Rick Dennison is incorporating the Mike Shanahan/Gary Kubiak West Coast offense at Buffalo.

Kyle Shanahan will run a better version of it. Maclin should sign with the 49ers & be featured in the O. Shanahan’s next great WR.

  2. LeSean, his former WR coach and being in an offense with Zay Jones and Sammy Watkins to take pressure off him. It makes a lot of sense for him to come to Buffalo but I have a feeling that just like Barnidge these guys are trying to miss a good deal of off season work and maybe even waiting for teams to have a #1 injured before they sign early.

Will Shanahan be making the passes too?

  4. Go to Buffalo and become irrelevant, or sign with a contender and maybe play in meaningful games. Tough choice.

  5. Many players seem to be getting waived for CAP space. This is not good for the NFL. A ton of “dead money” is being left on the table. I totally support the players. Grab the $$$ because they are one play away (Bo Jackson) from getting cashed out by injury. The NFL needs to do buyouts like the NBA does too. It’s not like they don’t have the money.

  6. Speaking of the Chiefs, I wonder if they will give Kap a tryout. After all, he beat out Alex Smith in Frisco, and the Chiefs are not thrilled with Smith since they spent a 1st round pick on a QB. Kap may sign for less than the 10 million they now have in salary kap space.

Tyrod can’t read a comic book much less a WCO playbook.

  8. These are not the same old Bills. They’re headed in the right direction and Maclin could give them a spark at a playoff run.

    Do it Brandon!!

Ummmm You know the “dead money” is money they already paid the player right? Signing bonus and other guaranteed money is spread out

  10. Maclin’s production fell so much from 15 to 16 that one should not be surprised he was cut. He should not be signed for a dollar over the veteran minimum. He is another knee injury waiting to happen. Eagles are better off with Torey Smith than they are with Maclin. Maclin most likely will not even be in the league after next season. Great guy, Missouri grad, did some nice things for the Eagles, but its the end of the line.

  11. The new rookie salary structure was supposed to help the veterans get paid decent. Since it’s inception, for the most part, good veterans are being released for cheaper rookies. Smith sold these guys down the drain in many ways.

Do you see what Pats fans have to deal with? And you wonder why we feel a need to bludgeon jealous morons when we can?

It’s that kind of creepy delusion that makes all of this so uncomfortable.

He also probably believes OJ is innocent and Goodell is not corrupt working to frame the Pats for parity purposes and to appease jealous egos.

Exactly. He’s not that pricey for his age. Clearly, his body has worn down.

That means they’re in cap hell with Denver and Oakland, so they’re right in line with those teams.

I am sorry, but Maclin’s contract was not offensive at all for what he was providing at his age.

It has a lot more to do with his ACL injury starting to show signs of fading at this point of his career. It happens.
