Paxton Lynch has “great day” in bid to win Broncos’ job

The quarterback battle in Denver is heating up. Although Trevor Siemian worked with the first team Monday, Paxton Lynch stood out, according to Cameron Wolfe of The Denver Post.

“He had a great day,” Broncos coach Vance Joseph said in quotes distributed by the team.

Wolfe reported that one of the highlights was Lynch throwing a perfect pass to Demaryius Thomas on a post route for a touchdown during 11-on-11. Lynch celebrated with a hip bump with Thomas.

Lynch, a first-round pick in 2016, played in three games as a rookie with two starts. He went 1-1, completing 59 percent of his passes for 497 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Siemian started 14 games last season, going 8-6 and completing 59.5 percent of his passes for 3,401 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

By all accounts, the race will go into training camp too close to name a favorite.

“Lynch celebrated with a hip bump with Thomas.”

Pretty pathetic when you celebrate a practice TD lolz

If your first round QB, coming into his second training camp, can’t beat out a late round journeyman type QB, is it too soon to call him a BUST?

I’d wage with any of you that Siemian ends up as the starter, or starts after Lynch gets pulled due to lack of performance.

    Siemian is better.

Not bad at all for his 1st year, he showed some potential. That’s why there’s a competition…

Ah yes, the Broncos hater-idiots in full effect. The truth is, the Broncos have three QB’s on their roster that in five years from now will ALL be starters in the NFL. Trevor Siemian’s numbers last season were actually pretty good for a first year starter, in fact almost identical to Tom Brady’s first season as a starter. He had some outstanding games, i.e. home vs KC, and he beat the Chargers and the Raiders, so he has already shown he can beat the teams in the Division. As for Paxton Lynch, he clearly outplayed the Tampa Bay Bucs and everyone’s favorite QB in Jameis Winston in the 2nd half of a tough game on the road to a team that just missed the playoffs. He flashed in preseason last year as well, so it’s just a matter of time because he has crazy tools with his size, athleticism and arm strength. Then there is Chad Kelly, who in the end will be better than Michell Trubisky or Patrick Mahomes III or any of the other QB’s just taken, it just may not happen in Denver. Love the dummy haters though.

I hadn’t a great day at work……give me that promotion. One day does not make for a season.

Denver is doing everything possible to hand him the job even though he hasnt beaten out Siemian. Fifty/fifty competition? Not a chance.

Well, that’s it then. Lynch wins. His 1 OTA td pass seals the deal. Congrats to number 12.

The Broncos have two really good QBs. Siemian was one of the biggest draft day steals of the decade, and even Lynch was a steal as a late first rounder.

The Broncos are an 18 wheeler rollin down the highway, and no one can see it coming. This is a team a year removed from winning a Super Bowl, that has a champions pedigree with 14 guys that started in SB 50. The defense has been re-stocked and will DESTROY offense this season, and the offense will be much better. All for a team that was 9-7 last season, and that was 8 points away from 11-5. So go ahead and count them out, it makes it all the sweeter when we kick your teams ass.

Calling out all the haters with comments; only a bronco homer would make.

only reason you feel this way is because they are playing for your favorite team. if they where playing for any other AFCW team you would see home much they all suck.

Jeff George and Jamarcus Russell looked great in practice, but like Lyhch and Kelly they are players that posses all the QB attributes but poses a pee brain.

They’re just trying build his confidence. Pretending Trevor has competition for the sake of competition. Simple.

I’ve seen film of Quincy Carter throwing a perfect pass in a game for a touchdown.

    Exactly-think about that.

The donkey QB room is nothing short of average to terrible. I’m leaning towards the latter. Fivehead ain’t walking through that door. It’s a battle for the basement again this year.

Trevor started out strong but as the season went on and there was more tape of him out there, defenses started to adjust. At this point it’s a good guess to say we have seen the best of Siemien. The same will happen to Lynch only sooner. Kelly is really the Broncos best hope if he can stay out of trouble off field.
