NFL already investigating latest Ezekiel Elliott incident

His name may not appear in the police report, but it’s on the NFL’s radar screen.

“We are aware of the matter and looking into it to understand the facts,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT via email regarding the report of a Sunday night incident at a Dallas bar involving Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

The problem for Elliott is that the NFL is now aware of, and looking into, multiple incidents involving the star tailback. For nearly a year, the league has been investigating a claim of domestic violence against Elliott. And while the league had no comment after video surfaced of Elliott pulling down a woman’s top at a St. Patrick’s Day parade earlier this year, the powers-that-be can’t be thrilled with that kind of behavior.

As to the most recent incident, it’s hard to say where this one will go absent reliable witness testimony or persuasive video evidence. The fact that Elliott isn’t named in the police report plays to his advantage, but since the NFL no longer defers to the criminal justice system, the final outcome of this specific incident depends on what the league finds when conducting its investigation.

    “already investigating”

Does the NFL have criminal investigation satellite offices in Dallas and Cincinnati in order to be able to jump right in the moment something happens to the players of those teams?

    If not, they should.

  3. srg608 says: Jul 17, 2017 11:06 AM

Busted Coverage is reporting Elliott punched a DJ at the bar and knocked him out. They’re also claiming the DJ had to go to the hospital.

Another fine product from the Urban Meyer system of criminals. Has there ever been a college coach who had so many criminals, thieves, rapists, and murderers in his college and the NFL?

Translation: “Jerry and the league are working with the local authorities to bury this story”

  6. ricko1112 says: Jul 17, 2017 11:11 AM

The NFL is also still “investigating…”

The Steelers for knowingly hiding Bell’s serious injury before the AFCCG. Even though he stated in multiple press conferences that Trippin’ Tomlin knew all about it.

The Colts for admitting they hid Luck’s broken Ribs and lacerated kidney from their injury report.

Several other Elliot incidents, like pulling down the woman’s shirt in the parade.

Goodell will just whitewash it like he always does with Pittsburgh, Indy, Baltimore, and the two New Jersey teams.

Elliott, is going to ride the pine for a few games to start the season. The question will be how good Prescott is in his absence?

  9. sbchampsagain says: Jul 17, 2017 11:15 AM

The saying in the NFL is “don’t listen to what the coaches say, watch what the GMs do.”

Well the NFL likes to say they support women with their “pink” days and female-cut apparel.

The reality is, their actions (Ray Rice’s initial pass, allowing multiple abusive players continue to play) shows their real feelings about domestic abuse.

As a Giants fan, I hope he is NOT suspended for Week One. It’s always ideal to play your opponent at full strength. It’s the best way to see which is REALLY the better team. No excuses.

  13. steeldominance says: Jul 17, 2017 11:29 AM

He would be looking at a 4-6 game suspension if his last name was Roethlisberger,

I agree. The league also needs to stop pitting the Cowboys and Giants (Redskins, Eagles) against each other in Week #1 or even through Week #4 just by the off chance there are star players on those teams suspended.

Might as well play them all at full strength.

Any news on whether the NFL is looking into Brady’s Brazilian, Italian, and Chinese HGH allegations?

The Cowboys strength is in their offensive line, and I don’t think any of their starters are in danger of suspension at this time.

Hell, if OJ gets paroled this week, and Zeke is suspended, the ‘boys can sign OJ and he will run for 1500 yards this season behind that o-line. πŸ™‚

I’m not sure OJ can even walk at this point. I agree about the line, but OJ might be a bit of a stretch. And yes, I realize you were just making a point, not really serious (were you?).

Nope. He is legitimately beating your team without help from Peyton’s medicine chest.

  20. bocadiver1 says: Jul 17, 2017 12:17 PM

Too much talk of the “criminal justice system”. There is none in Dallas when it comes to the Cowboys. I’m surprised Jones doesn’t change the team color to green, as in “here officer, a little something to impede your ability to write a truthful police report”.

He accuses others of having numerous screen names but it’s him that does.

I might add, take a look at the ‘investigations’ of deflategate and Brady–they suspended him with no evidence, and a damn-near exact recreation of events in another game the next year that wasn’t even investigated.

Physics: air pressure drops in a closed system (ball) when it gets colder. Apparently the NFL forgot to investigate Boyle’s law and basic physics.

I’m not a Patriot fan, but seriously–the NFL needs to quit ‘investigating’ things.

It’s weird how nice and calm he seems when I have seen him interviewed. Kind of like Suh maybe, people like that scare me the most. Hope he’s just a little misunderstood and can get his act together. It was fun watching him run last year and historically I am not a cowboys fan.

  27. blah773 says: Jul 17, 2017 1:11 PM

the nfl is *already* investigating. so i’m certain this will be resolved quickly. much like his domestic dispute incident from 2016? sarcasm

  28. kcflake says: Jul 17, 2017 1:11 PM

In terms of problems, Elliott is the 2nd coming of Michael Irvin, for the cowboys.

  29. CannedHeat says: Jul 17, 2017 1:12 PM

Athletically talented kid with a rock for a brain. Should be fun to watch it all implode this year.

  30. briang123 says: Jul 17, 2017 1:24 PM

Funny how the NFL is ready to come down on him the day after he is accused of something. (Last I heard it was innocent until proven guilty, although in Trump’s America that doesn’t seem to apply to women, minorities, gays, and immigrants). If he were white, the NFL would say “boys will be boys” and move right along as if nothing happened.

  31. alaric411 says: Jul 17, 2017 1:30 PM

Maybe he and Michael Irvin can hang out and be followed by a camera crew. Could call the resulting show: “Cowboys doing stupid things.”

  32. jfm215 says: Jul 17, 2017 1:36 PM

Imagine for a second that in the same time frame Tom Brady pulled a woman’s shirt down and broke the club DJ’s Nose plus whatever in between…and im hearing Possibly 1-2 games for Elliot?? LMAO!! yup thats equal…

  33. jfm215 says: Jul 17, 2017 1:53 PM

so outside the lines means nothing towards the integrity of the league? Which means NFL Players who fight people and disrepect women outside the lines are fine..but Tom Brady who was obviously targeted and career affected by this obvious orchestrated attack on F’n P. S. I. of 2% ..of course it failed..and obv PSI dont matter anymore lol! but seriosly…”Intregity of The Game” Ezekiel Elliot should be Suspended for the 2017 Season

  34. thechewtoy2 says: Jul 17, 2017 3:24 PM

I’m curious to know if the ‘domestic abuse’ investigation is the one that the police and DA closed months ago because it was obvious the woman was trying to extort money out of him.

This incident, while not bright, reads that Elliot punched a man who got into an altercation with a woman in Elliot’s party. He punched a man that was either fighting or insulting a woman friend of his…

I’ll admit the pulling the shirt down thing is sketchy, but . . . this sounds a lot more like a young kid (he is) than a criminal.

  35. cribbage12 says: Jul 17, 2017 3:39 PM
