Spike Lee announces a rally for Colin Kaepernick on August 23

Twitter.com/SpikeLee

The last time Spike Lee tried to make a Colin Kaepernick-related announcement on social media, Lee whiffed. This time around, Lee is likely to be more accurate.

Lee has posted a proclamation that a rally will be held for Colin Kaepernick (apparently spelled “Kapernick” in the announcement) at the league offices on Wednesday, August 23.

It’s unclear whether Kaepernick is involved in the rally or even wants it to happen. Some would say that the rally is another example of the “distractions” Kaepernick would bring to the locker room, even though he has never said or done anything that is either against the law or against NFL rules.

It’s also unclear whether the rally will make a difference. It’s possible, in theory, that the league will twist arms to get Kaepernick a gig before August 23. Then again, this won’t be the first pro-Kaepernick demonstration that 345 Park Avenue has endured. In May, roughly 75 showed up to speak out on his behalf.

The Ravens still could sign Kaepernick, sooner than later. If Ryan Mallett stinks it up in the preseason opener, the Ravens may finally resolve their lingering deliberations regarding whether Kaepernick should be given a gig.

  1. Spare us the nonsense. Spike Lee… lol. The free market is an amazing phenomena. CK is finding that out right now and I for one love it.

  2. “United We Stand”

    Nice picture of Kaepernick kneeling…

Spike Lee could have also spelled Kaepernick’s name correctly…

  3. Another GREAT example of why he should remain unemployed.
Intimidation tactics is really what these “demonstrations” are all about.
The 32 teams need to stick to the script, and keep him banned, then boycott all things Spike Lee related

  4. Why won’t people just accept that kaep is a below average qb with way too much baggage? He now has time to protest whatever he wants since he is out of a job. HE IS NOT OWED A JOB. He opted out of his contract and now nobody wants a fluke system qb. Get over it florio!

  5. “even though he has never said or done anything that is either against the law or against NFL rules.”

100% he smokes the devils lettuce. Nothing wrong with it, but it IS against the rules. PFT…the home of often wrong.

  6. At the league offices? Why? Is the league supposed to force a team to sign him? How is the league responsible?

  7. It’s ironic, or something, that there will be a rally to protest in support of a protester.

Can there be a rally held to support the rally? Has THAT ever been done before?

I really don’t think we know how to rally or protest anything anymore. It’s all weaksauce.

  8. Winter Olympics are the worst. And so is this banner ad that won’t go away. Can’t even see what I’m typing. Nice.

As for the article. Wow. I am a liberal thinker but this kind of stuff gives liberals a bad name. Give jt up spike, go back to making barely endurable movies please

  9. Honest question. Let’s say an “averagish” white QB (Orton, Fitzgerald, etc.) disrespects the country/flag/anthem/military, wears anti police socks and is pro Castro. Do they have a job? I’d say no – too much trouble (and polarizing many fans who make the league profitable) for an “averagish” QB. Teams can find a QB who gives the same production with no baggage. I’m so sick of people trying to make this a black/white thing.

  10. Sorry Spike but I have a job to think of and a 6 yr old who I love and take pride in being a Father to. I can’t spare the time to make the rally.

  11. Smartest thing Kaepernick could do is to thank his supporters and ask all of them to let the process work its self out and relax with the rhetoric. That would go a long way to show owners and GMs he there to play ball and nothing more.

  12. You say Kapernick, I say Kaepernick. Kapernick.. Kaepernick..Kapernick…Kaepernick-lets call the whole thing off.

  13. Florio still thinks Ravens might sign him?????? Does he know kaepernick GF compared Ravens owner to a slave owner . Bad journalism

  14. And somehow Lee thinks this will help “Kapernick” rather than have the exact opposite effect? Just clueless, smh

  15. Why not. I’m sure owners and fanbases would be love another round of being called “slave masters” like Baltimore or “Racists” in Miami by his handler/GF. We need more ignorance from both sides because this is a freaking SJW sideshow act.

  16. Like the article said, this will hurt his chances of playing. There is a rally to get him a job. Will there also be a rally outside team headquarters when the starting QB throws an interception? Too much drama and most of it is not coming from Kaepernick.

  17. Maybe Spike Lee’s time would be better invested in a rally against violence in the war zone called Chicago. Oh yeah…..that doesn’t fit his narrative though!

  18. Spike would be better off holding a rally to try and convince more than 30% of black fathers to actually stay with and raise their kids

  19. Great another irrelevant, washed up racist wants to add his two cents.

Both just need to go away.

  20. this is devolving into a farce. Look, his football carry is caput and it’s obvious Kaepernick doesn’t have the brains or the kahonas to carry this thru on the civil rights front so this just needs to go away.

  21. He needs a system that fits his style, so the only way he plays is if Cam re-injures his shoulder. It might happen and the old man at the top has either lost his marbles or is in the process of…

  22. Any reports of Kaep working out? Throwing to some receivers at nearby high school field? Nope, that’s right he usually spends the off season partying with friends in Miami and getting investigated for sexual assault.

  23. Funny, I don’t hear whites demanding a rally so that average out of work white qbs be given jobs. Face it, Kap’s talent is simply not bigger than the baggage he comes with of his own doing. He had one good year, get over it.

  25. The rap for Kaep will furnish the following refreshments!

    Water Mellon
    Cool Aide
    Gin
    Fried Chicken

    Weapons will not be supplied

  26. I am always amazed by how many who have literally done nothing at all with their lives, pathetically cat call from the sidelines at those who have, and still do. It’s like they are parrots, trotting out the same sad tropes, modes of thought–thinking they are part of some “real man” or “people who get it” group. It is as boring as it is predictable. Dont like Spike Lee? Don’t watch his movies, simple as that. Don’t like what Kap did? Ok, we got that. No need to expose yourself as the ultimate lemming, unless there is some kind of dumb a** context with a killer prize for 1st place happening I am not aware of.

  27. Basically, it’s a protest against the people protesting the guy who protested.

And this article really suggests that Kaepernick wouldn’t be a distraction simply because he hasn’t broken any laws? You’re telling me that having a dozen cameras on a backup during the national anthem isn’t a distraction? You’re telling me that a media horde isn’t a distraction? You’re telling me that a man who is at the center of a racial divide isn’t a distraction? What?

  28. Your pop-up is incredibly annoying. It shows up on every single page, no matter how many times I X it out. And the X only partially shows, making it difficult to close and even more annoying. If only the feedback link worked maybe we could get someone to fix this…

  30. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s “equal time” with a rally for Tim Tebow.

After all, there has to be people standing up for all of the unemployed inept QBs out there.

  31. I think it is well past the time of talking about an ex-football reject. He made his choice and we made ours. Time to move on to those that have a chance or deserve to play in the NFL and move on.

  32. Dear NFL Players,
Us fans don’t spend money on or watch the game to be lectured by a bunch of ignorant athletes on political issues. We spend money to watch you score touchdowns and force fumbles. Most of us are far more educated than you and much more informed than you are, your opinions literally are worth nothing to us. Also, this is a job, you’re not entitled to use your job as a platform to push your personal beliefs. Most of us would be fired from our jobs if we said the ignorant things Kaep did. That’s how the real world works and you’re not immune to it.

    Sincerely,
    NFL Fans

  33. Whole lot of commenters on this site clearly have never read the Constitution or an American history book, or understand how free markets work or why. Just sayin’.

  34. Beautiful! Adding Spike Lee to your resume of disrespecting our flag, police pig socks, Fidel Castro t-shirts, Black Panther Afro. I’m sure an NFL owner would just love to make him the face of his franchise and then wait around for the next shoe to drop. Spike Lee. Talk about ton deaf.

  35. The fact that Spike Lee doesn’t even know how to spell Kaepernick’s name is a good indication of how much he really cares about Kaepnerick the person as opposed to Kaepernick the cause.

  36. So much fuss. Someone hires him as a backup, he stands for the anthem his first week, and everyone except hardcore lunatics moves on.

It’s so easy to see a few steps ahead on this, yet everyone continues to freak out.

As for Lee – while he may have good intentions, this is the worst possible way to get Kaepernick hired by anyone. This is exactly what teams want to avoid.

  39. Is this before or after the rally for Tim Tebow? Both knelt (one got in trouble), both have been determined to not be worth the media circus, and neither is a good QB.

  40. The majority of the posts on here are a great example of why we as a country have the idiot that we have as President. You people don’t know history or you don’t want to accept the history of police violence against black people. Do you idiots even know how/why police were EVEN created?
I’m sure you don’t, you just keep spewing your racist insults. Kap was doing the most American thing there is, and that is PROTESTING! Did our forefathers stand idly by while Britain exerted its rule against us? Hell NO, remember the BOSTON TEA PARTY?

  41. Dear @PatriotsfoolsGold,

Judging from your post, you might not be smarter than the average fifth grader and to say you’re far more educated than anyone is problematic, especially when you don’t have any research or proof that backs up that claim. I love watching athletes stand up for causes greater than sports and using their platforms to be voices for the disenfranchised. Just because it makes you uncomfortable, and you can’t relate to the experiences of African Americans in this country doesn’t mean it should stop. How are Kap’s points ignorant? I’m asking this because there are facts and several examples that back up his claims that unarmed blacks are disproportionately shot by police officers. Although you can try to spew elitist rhetoric and talk about how he makes millions, so he wouldn’t understand those issues, you are completely false. Money doesn’t shield anyone from racism and I would hope you don’t have kids, who grow up listening to a moron like yourself.

    Sincerely,

    An NFL Fan

Get yourself an iPhone. In the pop up, there’s an “x” prominently featured on the top right corner. I was able to close it.

  43. a) What’s not unclear is that Kaep is a lousy QB.
    b) Get that freaking pop-up ad out of my way.

  44. Wonder if ever a day goes by where this nitwit asks himself ” what the hell was i thinking “

  45. What moron divides his troops before battle and sends most to the other side? Kaepernick. Kaepernick aka General Custer.

That’s what Kaepernick did when he made a non-racial issue about race, and he’s a moron for doing so. He betrayed his own position. Dividing yourself only gets you conquered.

Then he didn’t have the conviction to register to vote and vote, even for a write in candidate. He tells us to take things seriously and he doesn’t even himself. WHAT A JOKE! He’s got the mind and intellect of a five year old.

He already had a stage, called numerous interview requests every week, so he didn’t need to ‘kneel’ at all. He didn’t need to disrespect the flag/anthem. He didn’t need to wear pig socks and Fidel Castro shirts. He did that, because he is IGNORANT.

Then, without solving the problem, well that’s because he never actually addressed the problem, he claimed victory like a moron. Blaming whitey was what he wanted to do, and to him it was the right way to go about it. People are still be killed by police of all races, colors, and creeds.

His whole endeavor was worse then a 10 year old wanting to dig their way to China, then using a spoon to dig six inches and claiming success.

He’s an idiot. Why would anyone want such an idiot leading their team? Why would idiot Spike Lee want to protest in favor of such an idiot? Oh that’s right, because Kaepernick was blaming whitey. That’s music to Spike Lee’s ears.

Meanwhile Spike Lee is cementing his fate. No team wants a player who takes an issue he knows little about, makes it about race when it is nothing about race, tries to distract everyone with his idiocy, sucks as a traditional QB, declares victory when he brought defeat, then tells everyone he wasn’t serious to begin with by not registering and not voting. Who wants to be jerked around by the village idiot?

  47. Face the NFL has alot of racist fans. Must be like Mandingo fighting on the movie Django. You guys should be ashamed of yourself! Cooper Riley and Hank Williams Jr.get 2nd chances but Lap can’t??!! Look in the mirror. I bet you’re all Trump supporters as well. Ignorant racist!

  48. DO THE RIGHT THING SPIKE LEE AND GO AWAY, YOU ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST RACISTS AROUND.

AS FRO CK, I AM GETTING TIRED OF ALL THIS TALK ABOUT HIM GETTING BLACKBALLED AND SUCH, THE BOTTOM LINE IS HE IS NOT A VERY GOOD PLAYER.

  49. This is exactly why teams don’t want Kaepernick! For God’s sake people…it’s not because he took a knee and stood for something he “believed” in. Plenty of other NFL players demonstrated in a similar fashion last year and they still have jobs. It’s a risk/reward thing. Is the risk of all the distractions caused by media attention worth the reward of having a decent back-up quarterback? I think the NFL owners have already answered that question. This only attracts more media attention to a guy who already is widely considered not worth the aggravation. Spike Lee is hurting Kaepernick, not helping him. But let’s not kid ourselves…he’s not trying to help anyone. He’s trying to make his own name relevant again.

  50. Police pig sox, kneeling for anthem, making pro Castro remarks around Miami game, and now a Spike Lee rally. You have to wonder what’s next. As for the Miami position, they have Kiko Alonso who is a Cuban American who was offended by Kaepernick’s Castro remarks. Kaepernick has to be held accountable and a position for him with the Dolphins would not have made for a productive workplace. Free speech is a great thing, but there are consequences to that speech which are not protected.

  51. Let’s see…no one wants to sign Kap because of all the distraction and controversy he comes with. Let’s hold a race motivated rally to put pressure on the owners! That’ll fix it!
Well played, Spike Lee. Well played…

  52. Great! Just what we need! Another out-of-touch Hollywood celebrity trying to lecture the rest of America on how they should perceive Kaepernick and his actions last year.

There is NOTHING more pathetic than watching out-of-touch liberals who wouldn’t be caught dead in a Walmart or anyplace else they would be forced to rub elbows with the middle class trying to lecture those very people on what they should think.

If you’re dumb enough to think that America sucks and that a mass murderer like Fidel Castro is your ideal leader, then you’re too stupid to play professional sports in the United States. Spike Lee is apparently just as stupid as Kaepernick.

Everyone that I have hear call him “dumb” “stupid” or an “idiot” is invariably far more ignorant and less intelligent than they have convinced themselves that they are. MAGA and keep Kaep out.

  54. THIS NEW FORMAT SUCKS. My video is so big it is ridiculous and I can’t even read the post. And the “RATE THIS” I don’t even get how it works.
    I wouldn’t mind a RESPOND to this.

  55. The sports media has killed Kap’s chances of landing a job with their overblown coverage of him over the last two months. He is a guaranteed distraction now and it is directly caused by the sports media’s coverage.

  56. If you want to spark controversy, draw unwanted attention and/or just be a general pain in the butt. You better be VERY VERY good at your job or you are just an expendable headache. That doesn’t just go for the NFL, that’s for any walk of life. When you’re just barely good enough to be in the league maybe it’s best to just “do your job” as Bill Belichick would say. Does Kaepernick have “freedom of speech”? Yes, but that “freedom” isn’t without consequences.

  58. Hi Spike!

Listen….I heard Bruce Gradkowski, Christian Ponder and Shaun Hill are unsigned as well. Can you do a rally for them?

    No?

    How come?

  59. What better way to bolster the self esteem of a man than bullying an employer into giving him a job?

I’m considering monetizing this plan by driving down to the rally location a day prior with some cheap plywood
I can sell to store owners to board windows. If you have a car in that area you’d be well advised to find a different spot that day.

  60. How are Kap’s points ignorant?

He praised a communist dictator that starved and exploited his people for decades. People would literally made homemade rafts to flee Castro’s oppressive regime and Kaep ignorantly defended Castro. If you think a communist dictator who committed human rights violations is an example of standing up against systematic oppression than you’re an ignorant fool. He also wore socks that depicted police as pigs, how is that not ignorant?

  62. Wow, can’t read this page hardly at all, why did PFT mess with the format? Never mind, it’s another Kapernick story.

  63. from all the money your making with the new ads why don’t you buy a team and give the poor, downtrodden guy a job as your quarterback lol

  64. I believe Kaepernick would be better served by a 15 minute piece on ESPN (and other outlets) showing Kaep getting into football shape, working out with Receivers and working on mechanics with respected QB coaches. The problem with Kaep is the owners don’t see a football commitment. I believe the Spike Lee involvement will do nothing to help.

  65. Most of the time I am not a fan of the media. Talk about corrupt. In this case, I find humor in all of this. The reason Kap is not hired to be a QB is because of the media circus. No team wants the distraction and drama that will come with signing Kap. If you folks that are part of the media truly want Kap signed, then shut up already. Of course you can’t, which means Kap stays unsigned, which pleases me. Thank you media!!

  66. He exercised his right to free speech which nobody stopped him from doing. If you cussed out your boss, which nobody will stop you from doing so…you think there isn’t going to be any repercussion? This is his own doing. No owner is going to touch him, because of the circus that he will bring with him.

  67. The now fired engineer at Google said some things about “diversity” that he had an absolute right to say under the First Amendment. He got fired for it. Colin Kaepernick expressed his First Amendment right by refusing to stand up. He did not get “fired” but no similar employers want to “hire” him now, that is their right also. It goes both ways Florio, you can’t pick and choose when YOU decide the First Amendment works in your favor. It always work in favor of allowing free speech…..but with that, their might be consequences.

  68. The deplorables are up early I see. Thought they’d all be working – that’s what they always say. Can’t wait til one of your qbs tears his acl week 8 and your team’s desperation outweighs the faux fallout. You’re the hypocrite party so I’m sure all of these posts will be long forgotten fake news by that time and you’ll all have kap jerseys. Lord knows you’re not boycotting jack.

  69. Hey Spike – you clown – you’ve made MILLIONS off the free market, including from evil whitey. The free market is at play here, as well. CK CHOOSES to protest. The fans CHOOSE to stop watching the NFL by the millions because of CKs CHOICE. The owners then CHOOSE not to hire him. And Spike CHOOSES to be an idiot.

  70. Example of Kaep’s ignorance:
He praised Castro by saying his offered free medical training for people of color and that overrides his immoral behavior. That’s like praising Hitler by saying the Nazis invented a lot of antibiotics and medication so the holocaust really isn’t a big deal. Kaep literally insulted millions of Cuban American refugees and never once apologized or recognized how offensive he was.

  71. This is the same guy who tweeted out the wrong George Zimmermans address and nearly got innocent people hurt. He needs to go away.

  72. Why would any owner want to sign Kaepernick now? Assume a team signs him. He comes in as a backup. How long before there is another protest for him to be the starter?

  73. I know this is a clickbait, but I need to comment.

The fastest way for a cause to fail is to get Spike Lee involved.

  75. Please, football and political gods, let this rally happen. Please let it get hijacked by BLM, LGBTQIAP+2 activists, and pro-Communist demonstrators. Better yet, let there be rioting. It will still be pre-season and we need the entertainment.

While I agree with much of what the Google employee said, however, your employer does not owe you free speech. It doesn’t work that way and that includes the NFL they don’t owe any of their employees free speech. Ratings are in decline and the reason is the NFL as a whole getting involved in politics

    still salty huh?

Salty, perhaps. Damn tired of repetitive, juvenile, race baiting comments by someone who has devoted their so called life to hate speech directed at anything white or new England? Big time.

  81. Spike Lee? What has Spike Lee ever accomplished that makes him noteworthy?
On the other hand, he is the “Kapernick” of film making.

  82. I’m tired of all the Kaep stuff. I don’t think racism is why he doesn’t have a job. It’s just the baggage he created. So that said, cmon people. There are WAY too many racist comments on here getting thumbs up. Disgusting.

  83. Things that for which would have been worth taking out a second mortgage,

Paying the fine for Reggie Miller if had fed a basketball to Spike Lee during the 1994 playoffs.

  84. So a B string producer sets up a protest for a B string QB with Ringling Bros as his entourage and this is news but an active member of our military PLAYING in the NFL gets to perform a re-enlistment ceremony for two other sailors after a joint practice (with most of both teams supporting it!) and not a peep from this place
    Gotta love PFT

  85. Never liked Kaep. You can listen to his post game comments and he just doesn’t show the football knowledge you would expect from a QB. Having said that the guy belongs in the NFL and is better than many who are in teams right now. The outrage some of you show because he did not stand for the flag when you overlook drug dealers, rapist, those who assault women, and about 100 other crimes is beyond comprehension. You may not agree with the manner in which he chose to call attention to a real issue in this country, but how in the world is what he did worse than raping or beating a female?

  86. Through all of this, the most important question is: Does Kaep want to play? Where is the evidence of Kaepernicks commitment to the game? There hasn’t been one sports news piece where Kaep has spoken about his desire to play. There hasn’t been one interview where Kaep has expressed his interest in a football career. Not one “leaked” video of him practicing, throwing lasers to guys or working out. All we have are managers from various teams beating the Kaepernick drum but not putting pen to paper and putting him on their roster. All we have are guys saying how great he is but no ones taking the next step.

In a related note, any Spike Lee involvement is Kryponite.

  87. Laughable idiots. “United We Stand!” captions with a picture of Kaepernick….kneeling. And I dunno, maybe someone ought to check the spelling of the subject’s name before it went to print. Buffoons.

So what do you have to say about 70% of black fathers abandoning their kids?

  93. Reading the comments here is a mix between sad, pathetic and infuriating.

People love to rep the red, white and blue, but they don’t love what it stands for.

I get it if you think Kap is a distraction or whatever, but he is only a distraction because so many Americans are closed minded and equate taking a knee with treason.

There is less outrage when the KKK has a parade through a town, than there is for Kap taking a knee during the national anthem.

  94. Yeah, the commotion just another reminder to owners to stay away. No win situation. If Sanctuary San Fran doesn’t want you, can’t imagine who will…then again this league does welcome back felons with open arms.

  95. NFL Source: Kaepernick Turned Down At Least 1 Contract To Play Up The Race Card
    Reporter
    10:01 PM 08/07/2017

Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent, and an NFL inside source told The Daily Caller Monday that the former 49ers quarterback has no one but himself to blame.

Despite the ongoing narrative that Kaepernick’s very public political views are preventing any NFL teams from offering him a roster spot, TheDC’s source claims Kaep himself has turned down at least one contract in the hopes of stirring up a media frenzy that eventually leads to a more lucrative deal for the 27-year-old vet.

  96. Please spare me the “players are signed on merit in a free market” nonsense when Jay Cutler just got a contract and Brock Osweiler is competing for a starting job.

  97. So much drama over a below average out of work QB. Having Spike Lee in your corner to bully teams into signing Colin would be a bad idea. What a joke.

  98. Why is this so called get together being done at NFL headquarters??? The NFL or any other NFL team is not keeping Kappernick from being unemployed or not signing with a team. There aren’t 32 men in the world that can play QB in the NFL. It’s only a matter of time before someone signs him.

  99. Most of you people posting on here are ok with Trump the traitor though. Trump is anti America and you conservative are hypocrites! Did Kaepernick say he can shoot someone in the middle of times square and his minions wo uldnt care? What the neck is two Corinthians?? The racism in this country is pathetic! 101. Good to see spike Lee getting behind a white player for once. Kaepernick is as much white as he is black. Just like tiger woods could just as easily be the greatest Asian golfer of all time. You can’t just pick and choose which Gene is being treated unfairly

  102. For all you people having pop up ad issues, this is precisely why I will never turn off my ad blocker plus program for any site.

  107. I was actually kind of hoping someone would give Kap a shot even though I thought his kneeling stance was self serving. It was a bad look for the NFL to essentially blackball this guy. But reports are now leaking that Kap has been offered a contract and turned it down and was going to be offered another but wanted a chance to start. It sounds like teams are giving him a shot, he’s just turning them down to continue his self serving approach to this situation. This fiasco that Lee is now orchestrating is further supporting that narrative. I now hope no one give this guy a chance. He had his chance but chose to decline it so that he could play up the whoa is me card. I now think that Kap has played his last down in the NFL. Good luck in the CFL or whatever future endeavors you wish to pursue Kap.

  108. Taylor Swift said it BEST you guys, “Haters gonna hate, hate, hate….” And now instead of “Shaking it off” Kaepernick is gonna
Spike Lee it in the endzone!

What a STUPENDOUS moment! We got the ABSOLUTE BEST movie maker/director to EVER walk the planet, a national treasure,
and American Hero coming to the aid of ANOTHER TRUE American Hero. I mean WHAT could be better than this?
Spike Lee is gonna open up A LOT of eyes when he starts asking teams why they don’t have a picture of CK in their locker room,
better yet, why they don’t have the man himself in their locker room! He is gonna set ALL the owners straight and make them
see the error of their ways. After this rally EVERY owner will be falling over each other to ink Kaepernick.
Anybody who thinks CK should not have a job MUST be a racist moron and a Trump voter. You should all IDOLIZE CK and live your
lives even half as COURAGEOUSLY as he has, THEN maybe you can exercise your mouth muscles. SHEESH you guys. Seriously!

  109. To anyone who doesn’t believe in Kaepernick’s cause: Just read through the majority of the comments here. That’s why Kaepernick and others are “protesting”.

I don’t want to live my life in seasons. Correction, you’re here to selectively expose out hypocrisy in one direction only. You’re continuous one sided act is lame and disingenuous. Why is it that we never, ever read that you’re calling out the unspeakable number of murders in Chicago? The absentee father issue among POC (and let’s be candid, we’re talking black here, no other minority comes close). You consistently provide opinion as fact then demand facts from those who you seek to torment daily.

I know many POC from around the world. many have been treated unfairly. That in and of itself does not qualify you to make sweeping accusations against whites, or anyone who disagrees with you. Your broad brush commentary is the worst type of prejudice.

  133. Playing in the NFL is not a privilege. That’s the biggest farce I’ve heard. Those who have the natural ability and put in the time and effort to maximize those talents are those who play in the NFL. If you’re one of the best in your field, it’s not a privilege to be somewhere, it’s something you earned based on your own merit. Also, it’s idiotic for a football player to have to prove he’s committed to football. Just because the guy uses his platform and money to fund social programs and help out disenfranchised youths doesn’t mean he isn’t dedicating himself to his craft in his free time. It means he is well-rounded and has interests beyond the sport. I’m sure some you well-rounded fellows have interests beyond your 9-to-5, and I’m sure they don’t pertain to helping anyone, so your arguments have already been dismantled. I have several veterans in my family who not only agree with Kap, but were disgusted with how they were treated once they returned to this country. A lot of these opinions stem from cult-like rhetoric and the fact that a lot of you are too uncomfortable to recognize racism in this country. And if you are too uncomfortable to acknowledge the realities of the world, then you my friend might be the problem.

  134. Someone brought up the KKK. What if a white player came out in support of the KKK? Wore KKK socks? There’s no law against it. But would there be outrage? Absolutely. Would he have trouble finding work? Absolutely. Free speech only protects you from the government. You still have to deal with the fallout.

do you really think I’m going to debate this with him or any of these other posters talking about watermelon and your revenue stream from boarding up windows???

Broad Brush? maybe….but welcome to my world.

  151. The pure ignorance, lack of knowledge, or willful stupidity on here is astounding. This ISSUE is clearly about RACE and the treatment of an AFRICAN-AMERICAN who protested against the killing of UNARMED BLACK MEN! BUT, no, it has nothing to do with it right? Kap is just a bad QB, he’s worse than Cutler, Ryan Mallet, Joe Webb or any other bum with a backup job in the NFL. Nope, it’s exactly what Richard Sherman said, STAY IN YOUR PLACE BOY! I for one am not going to take this crap anymore.

  152. This is not going to help. I think he should be on an NFL roster but this is not going to help.

  153. Oh, I’m so sick of hearing about that evil commie Kap, who is definitely not being blackballed for his political views, but even if he is, it’s the god-given right of the owners to do so, even though they have an anti-trust exemption from the government. That’s why I comment on every post about him.

  154. The majority of protests are non-violent yet there are people making comments about violence happening at this rally. Kaepernick’s platform stood for a peaceful protest, yet people are on here really spewing hateful rhetoric. I’ve seen people talk about absentee father’s in the black community and post false percentages. I’ve seen people talk about Chicago and the murders. Lol, Spike Lee directed a film called Chicago speaking against crime in the city. Kap has put his money where his mouth is and not only denounced the killing of unarmed African American’s by police, but he’s also addressed the violence in some communities. I’m sorry you were offended by pig socks, and I feel compassion for your lack of empathy when it comes to peoples lives being taken by a group who is supposed to serve and protect.

  168. Really? I wonder if Spike will also include RGIII into the “parade” as his skillset is much like CK’s, but he still doesn’t have a job either. I wonder if his basketball knowledge prevents him from seeing that CK’s skillset lies outside of most normal NFL offense’s schemes, and maybe that’s why he doesn’t have a job.

  169. Let me see if I get this straight, Kaep is not being signed because his protests are disruptive to his team so the solution is to protest that. Ya, makes a lot of sense, that will get him a job for sure.

  170. What does Spike think the NFL is going to do? The NFL and teams are separate. The NFL doesn’t employ NFLPA members. Rodger’s favor is waning with the elite owners like Kraft and Jones. This rally is nothing more than a publicity stunt to get Spike back into the limelight. Even Kap’s girlfriend is killing his career to boost the rating for her show. The longer and uglier this goes on for the worse it will be for Kap but the better it will be for professional victims.

If you truly understood the history of blacks in America, you would understand just how ridiculous your statement is. Do you think that African Americans haven’t faced this type of hatred and hatred even worse than this in the United States? Really, you really want to know the answer to your question, read my friend, it’s part of history. I mean seriously bro.

  172. I know for a fact my wife’s family faced worse systematic oppression in Europe than anything you’ve ever experienced in your lifetime. Get a grip on reality. False equivalency? Sort of like you comparing living in America in 2017 to how things were pre 1960s?

  173. @Patriotsfoolsgold might just be a fool like his name insists lol. You know for a fact your wife’s family…. dude you’re so out of touch it’s not even funny. That’s a definite false equivalency. Also if you can believe her families tales of systematic oppression, then how come you can’t fathom what goes on in this country? Not much has changed in America post segregation, the only difference is blatant and uneducated racist like yourself can hide behind keyboards. The big wigs are compromised of people who were born well before the 60s, so you not knowing your head from your behind is mighty baffling.

  174. tiger2471: yea I guess blacks are being “systematically oppressed” into 67% of their babies being born into single parent families, committing half the violent crime despite being only 13% of the population and killing each other at FAR higher rates than any other demographic. Broad Brush? maybe….but welcome to my world.

OUR world sir, we are BOTH stuck here so let’s agree to make the best of it. The watermelon comments are as unacceptable as those made in the other direction. we can’t get into chicken and egg arguments here. We all know how blacks ended up here 400 years ago. There’s nothing you or I can do to change history. But we can move forward and making accusations against groups rarely serves that purpose. It’s one thing to learn from history but quite another to be held captive to it. So whaddaya say we ratchet things down a bit and consider that there might just be a reason CK is out of work above and beyond racism? It’s not impossible that there’s an unwritten agreement in place to keep him out. Or perhaps, just maybe people in the football world actually know that the cost benefit ratio here isn’t worth the effort. You may recall that there have been quite a few whites who have lost their livelihood over one poor word choice. And yes, Rob Parker was one of them.

  176. youngnoizecom: Hey moron you ever heard of WWII? Do you have any idea the kind of hardships Europeans suffered in the 1930’s and 1940’s? You called anybody uneducated is downright hilarious.

  179. “blatant and uneducated racist like yourself can hide behind keyboards”

Lol so in your delusional mind sticking up for Cuban refugees and calling out Kaep’s ignorance is racist? You’re more ignorant than Kaep. Name one thing I said that was racist, quote me, go right ahead…
I’ve stated that my issue with Kaep is his hypocritical statements about Fidel Castro and systematic oppression. I personally know people who fled communism, I know the pain they endured, and, I understand why Cubans were offended because my family also fled communism…
Who do you think you are going around accusing everyone of being racist? You’re a real lowlife..

Sorry, forgot to address this wise a$$ plywood comment. You have to admit that where this type of rally occurs, mayhem frequently follows. Or perhaps there’s another explanation for what happened to those people in Ferguson who had no part in any wrongdoing but had their homes, businesses and vehicles destroyed by opportunists? The female PO in NYC who was executed in her car? All emboldened by the recent movement of protests we’ve seen since Trayvon Martin was killed. You seem an intelligent person. Would you agree that these action do nothing to further the cause? eye for an eye leaves us all blind. I’ve been the victim of police injustice and have the scars to prove it, doesn’t give me license to retaliate against someone else who happens to war a blue uniform. So in closing I’ll apologize for my lack of decorum and promise to do my best to not let racist comments push me down to their level. But like you, I will make inquiries when I see them.

  181. @thermaltio Hey moron,

We all know about the atrocities faced during that 10-year window. But, I’m talking about 300 years of oppression. My degree probably cost more than your life and unlike you, I actually use it to read.

  182. @NHPats:

My question is, does the 65% of single parent households your link specifies include Black Men?

  183. @patriotsfoolsgold You do know there’s a demographic of Cubans that revered Castro and called him a man of the people right? Or you don’t watch 60 minutes either?

  184. Also sir, @patriotsfoolsgold, I’m not calling everyone racist, I’m calling you a racist. Even though this is a platform for racist to sprout their ignorant opinions. Your arguments are based on things you don’t comprehend, so I’ll leave it at that.

  185. Thanks, Spike.

It’s clear that Kaepernick is being black-balled for drawing attention to systemic racism and police brutality, both huge problems in America.

The establishment doesn’t like it when one of the plebians complains about their policies.

    Btw, I’m a white guy.

  186. Wow just reading these comments I can see it’s 95 percent white people in here anyone that supports Kap nothing but thumbs down and looks like atleast 70 percent of you are racist but the league is over 70 percent black lol

  187. youngnoizecom: So I get it. Hardship, poverty and oppression is only noteworthy when it suits you hysterical political agenda right? Spare me the 300 years of oppression whining. Blacks have spent more time oppressing each other than anything else. Blacks are not presently oppressed in this country and ironically they were a more affluent society before the Civil Rights Act. Considering the dearth void of critical thinking skill you possess you should ask for your money back for whatever degree you ended up with. Let me guess. You have a degree in lesbian dance studies?

  188. Stop projecting, bigot. You made the accusation but can’t even supply the quotes to corroborate your claim. Everyone else can read the comments for themselves and see what was said, they’ll see me calling out hypocrisy and bashing Castro and you calling people racist because you can’t dispute their points. I think everyone who is objective will read these comments and see you as one of the racist people commenting here and not me. It’s pretty obvious you lack the ability to debate.

  189. boytrin: So anyone who doesn’t like Fidel Krapperstink is a racist? lol nice logic. And you imbeciles wonder why America keeps rejecting the left….

  190. Lemmy,
I appreciate your candor in this matter. I really do.

Trust me when I have no stake in this other than to point out Hypocrisy.

When 40,000 POC are falsely charged and convicted in Suffolk Cty (see Annie Dookhan)

When 200 Billion Dollars are appropriated for enforcement/prisons for the crack era, but the proposed budget this year includes 45 Billion Dollars for “treatment” of the “opiod epidemic” in middle america.

When a man can walk into a DC restaurant armed with an assault rifle, pop off a round, and be talked down without incident.(see comet ping pong)

and yet We are here trying to defend black on black crime, or Colin’s protest, or the socio-economic repercussions of the above.

  191. merde4brains: Hey Einstein what does your skin color or you being a moronic left wing self hating white man have to do with whether your comments are factual or not? There is no systematic racism in America. Its a myth. If anything, the system currently favors you if you are a minority whether it be for government jobs, college admissions or scores of large corporations who all buy into the absurd notion that diversity is more important than ability. God help you if you are white and poor from a troubled background, you certainly won’t get any sympathy from the political left in this country. Hate to burst your loony conspiracy theory bubble, but the NFL viewing public and customer base hate Fidel Kaepernick and his phony self serving anti-America, anti-cop protest. The NFL has a responsibility to its customers, not hysterical left wing race baiters like yourself. We vote NO on Fidel Kaepernick. Sorry if that upsets you

If that is the best you can come up with tiger, I think that thermolito’s obvious response is: Game, Set, Match…..smh…..

  199. This is a joke, and so are the people doing this. What all them fail to realize is that while kaep can say what he wants, owners are free to avoid bringing a circus into their locker room. Anyone who knows anything about football knows how fragile team dynamics are, and kaep isn’t a good enough player in the NFL to warrant the risk he brings. That’s not opinion, that’s FACT. Here’s the opinion; he got what he deserves.

  200. Outstanding!

Spike Lee and Nessa Diab are so stupid that they have virtually assured that even Bisciotti’s underlings will turn away from any support.

  201. boytrin: Its not surprising that instead of addressing my points and Kaepernick’s absurd comments, you instead are crying about racists. Sorry but squeeling about racists and people who said mean things doesn’t change the fact Kaepernick openly praised a communist dictator and has aligned himself with some of the most extreme far left wing lunatics in the country. If you are making the ridiculous claim that none of the hatred of Kaepernick has anything to do with his support for Fidel Castro you are simply not living in reality. It is YOU who is trying to ignore the real issue and can’t even make a coherent statement about what the protest was about. Not what YOU think it was about, but what he actually said. Praising communist dictators, calling police officers murderers, wearing pig socks and aligning yourself with left wing hate mongers is hardly a way to protest racial inequality but keep hiding behind that banner. But your logic, it would be okay to defecate on a flag in front of an elementary school as long as I claimed it was for another stupid leftist social justice cause.

    ——————-

Why wasn’t he protesting the killing of all unarmed people? After all, far more whites (almost twice as many) are killed by police than are blacks.

Cops are heroes. Cops save infinitely more lives than they take. CK is a whiner without a cause.

Kaepernick should be in the NFL, but he isn’t because of his protests. Plain and simple. It’s not because “he’s not good enough”.
He clearly is, as admitted by the Ravens owner (Bisciotti), who would’ve signed him based on talent.

And this statement is exactly what is wrong with this country today. The guy is not ENTITLED to be employed. Have you ever
stopped to consider that how he is perceived by the public matters to his employer. Everyone here assumes that winning
games is the bottom line. That is incredibly naïve. The bottom line for the team is to make money… period. Football is
entertainment, that is all. If you make your team less marketable because you are terrible they will cut you. If you alienate
70% of the fanbase with your statements you will not have a job. That is all. So Spike Lee’s support will help how?

  206. Dios mio. It’s like the same guy posted 300 times here. But liberals are sheeple.

  207. First, great work on spelling his name wrong…good stuff.
Second…why doesn’t the bleeding heart that is Florio focus more on the fact that Kap chose to forego the 14 million in guaranteed money for an opt out clause that he then executed? It is his own fault he is unemployed. It is also reported that he turned down an offer for the Vet. Minimum and is stoking the racial card to get a big contract…where is that reporting here?

  208. This new format really sucks. Maybe it’s just on my laptop, but the layout makes it hard to read easily.
personally, I’m against picketing, but I don’t know how to show it.

    Lemmy,
I appreciate your candor in this matter.

    And I yours,

But please, let’s not conflate Dookhan’s misdeed (24000, not 40000) with the topic at hand. There was no race component in her actions, unless you know something no one else does. BTW,she should have been put away for 20+ at minimum. I’m aware of the Comet incident but not sure how it relates. The crack era was a living nightmare and was handled as best they could given the state of things back then. Not really fair to compare to today’s opiate issues.

But again, let’s ratchet this down.

  210. So you still want to listen to your girlfriend Nessa, Colin? That chick and her racist agenda to somehow force an NFL team to sign you failed miserably. Now you will have all the time in the world to be a socially unaware justice warrior.

  211. Why does anyone OWE this guy anything? What has he done? Did he put his life on the line voluntarily like our military members? Or did he disgrace our anthem and flag that all those soldier fight for? I most be confused.
Why do people think he deserves ANYTHING?!?!?! He’s a below average QB and thinks he’s Tom Brady. I would say he’s banned/blackballed, but just not that good. How about that?

  212. The irony is that all this media grandstanding only hurts his chances of being signed.

Nobody wants to deal with that kind of circus out of a 2nd/3rd string guy. Period.

  213. Can’t believe Spike Lee would even be involved with anything that isn’t court side. Having said that, I must concur with utteke’s prior comment : If only Kaepernick was a better player. He’s awful !!!!

  214. Spike Lee’s entire “career” was built on white guilt. His lousy movies, all of which portrayed white people as devils and blacks as heroes, drew well for a short while until white audiences got tired of his shtick and overcame their guilt. of course, when the movies didn’t draw well, it was because of “racism”. He’s STILL crying “racism” almost 20 years after he was so briefly relevant.

Spike, if you wrote or made decent movies, believe me, Hollyweird would be THROWING money at you. And if Kaepernick could actually PLAY and not be a distraction, the NFL would be THROWING money at him.

Prediction–The “rally” will draw less than 5,000. ESPN will report it as 50,000, CNN as 30,000, MSNBC as 150,000, and Fox News as 20.

  215. All of the people crying about Kaep are the same people who will say “you have a right to free speech but you have to deal with the consequences that may come with it” whenever an issue involves their political adversaries. Hypocrites.

  216. Here’s the funny thing that the media doesn’t realize. It is actually THEIR fault Kaep doesn’t have a job. They don’t usually televise the national anthem … so how did people find out about this? The media. Who keeps making a big deal about these “protests”? The media.

The media keeps bringing attention to a guy who can’t get a job because of all the attention.

  217. It’d be nice if these morons would hold a rally or a protest for Officer Miosotis Familia or someone who actually deserves compassion and assistance. sad and sorry.

Actually, he is out of a job because HE opted out of his contract… and he and his camp made sure to bring attention to his protest.. does no good to protest if no one sees you doing it.. and lets not forget he is a read option QB who wants starter money to be a backup and screw him anyway. take the money you have made and actually help someone.. his attention grab kinda backfired…lol
