Tim Tebow beaned in the head, stays in the game

Port St. Lucie Mets outfielder Tim Tebow took a hit to the head in last night’s game, but he’s a football player so he’s used to it.

Tebow was at bat when he was drilled with a fastball, causing a loud crack when the ball hit his batting helmet. It was a scary sound, but Tebow didn’t go down, shook it off and calmly proceeded to first base.

The fans loudly booed what they may have perceived as an intentional bean ball, but Tebow didn’t seem particularly upset and stayed in the game.

Since getting called up to the high-A Mets, Tebow has a .311 on-base percentage and a .399 slugging percentage. Those aren’t great numbers, but for a player who hadn’t played baseball in a decade before signing with the Mets for this season, they’re fairly impressive. As was Tebow’s resilience when taking a fastball to the noggin.

  1. Giants call him up from Mets when E-Lie gets busted for fraud. Works miracles, saves their season, and spares thousands of hedonistic New Yorkers from damnation.

  2. I really don’t care if he did play in the NFL, he was garbage…enough posting stories about guy who had success in college and now plays baseball…it’s over…if he really wanted to play football he would have switched positions…I do get a good laugh out of all the people that worship him though…pathetic…

  3. Enough. Move the Tebow stories to the baseball site. You don’t write a story every time Terry Crews (Rams) gets a new show, or Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (MIA Hurricanes-Calgary) gets a new movie role. They, like Tebow, washed out of football and are now doing something else. Crews and Johnson’s stories are in people magazine and Tebow’s stories should be in the MLB tab.

  4. It’s simple: Jeebus reached down and instantly healed him. Tebow doesn’t even need a helmet but wears one for appeances and to not make his teammates feel bad that their faith ain’t strong enough.

  5. Is there any other way to get beaned than “beaned in the head”? I mean, your “bean” is your head, and a “beanball” is a ball thrown at your head. You can’t get beaned in the foot.

Gotta have a pretty hard head to believe the universe was created in six days.

Gotta have the hard head of a troll to flame a sports message board with a non-sports narrative.

Thank you Sledge. Getting beaned is getting hit in the head by the ball. Somehow it has changed in the sports lexicon that it means getting hit anywhere, which is ridiculous IMHO. Even the broadcasters, analysts and media reporters say “He got beaned in the ribs” and the like. You can’t get beaned in the ribs. Ribs are not the bean.

Are you bigoted against everyone, or just Christians?

  9. I normally don’t mind the stupid and thoughtless “Football” trolling. After all a good ribbing from an anonymous fan of another team is fair game, but lately, the Hatred for Religion, Race and Political Party is out of control. Don’t blame Trump or Obama for your words. This country is getting more divided by the day. I would be scared to bring my family to an NFL event under this new found environment. I will guarantee the rise in fan violence will be at a record level this season. No thanks!

  10. I just saw a video yesterday of Tebow shaking a kid’s hand just before he went to bat and then he hit a home run. The kid was so happy he started crying after he shook Tebow’s hand. I am very impressed with Tebow for doing that because the kid has autism and the kid will remember that for the rest of his life, good job Timmy!

  11. @ patsfan4lifesbchamps,

then you wonder why everyone hates the Pats and their fan base for making a stupid comment about Tebow having 1 more playoff win than Dak Prescott……smh!!!
