Browns keep churning roster with sixth waiver claim in two days

The Browns have their choice of any players hitting the waiver wire this week and they’ve put it to use six times over the last two days.

Cleveland added five players to their roster on Sunday and picked up another one on Monday. They claimed tackle Zach Banner off of waivers from the Colts. Offensive lineman Rod Johnson was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury to keep the roster at 53 players.

Banner was a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft after starting 37 games at USC over the last three seasons. That’s a fairly high pick to hit the waiver wire at this point in the calendar and the Browns will get a chance to see if Banner develops to their liking over the rest of his rookie season.

The Browns also signed linebacker B.J. Bello and offensive lineman Travis Averill to the practice squad and announced that they’ve released safety Ed Reynolds from their injured reserve list.

  1. So in essence the Browns just managed to use the waver wire to get an 11th draft pick in the 2017 draft 4 months after the draft.

I don’t know if this will turn out in wins or not but this combined with using the Texans stupidity to get a 2nd round pick in 2018 and trading the Steelers back their own 6th round pick for a starting receiver and whatever magic they did for the Jamie Collins trade last season says I’d hate to play Sashi Brown in fantasy football. He has to have dirt on every GM in the league.

What did you win? The off season for a change. The Browns won 1 game and have first dibs on the waiver wire and that makes you smart. Good teams don’t need to get the dregs off the wire or certainly not 4 of them. Your team doesn’t want to win and they are just filling holes that shouldn’t be there. Get ready to start the season by ruining another young QB which has become habit forming. And as far as the Texas being stupid I don’t think so. Teams that try to win and have a roster full of great players use up their CAP space unlike the Browns of the world who are wallowing in a 20 year rebuild.

  3. One genius says they’re great, another says they will always be losers. Seems like they’re just using they’re position on the waiver wire to the fullest. Let’s play a few games, not expecting a championship, but expecting improvement.

  4. Don’t think Texans are stupid but they don’t they come off as smart. They signed Osweiler to a big contract and then trade him after one year. Then they compound the error by trading two first round picks to get another QB who can’t beat out Savage. They could have picked Kizer for much less draft capital who beat out Osweiler for the Browns QB job which brings it full circle.

sammie coates is not a starting receiver. you will find out soon enough.

For starters, the expansion era Browns have been in the league for a total of 18 years. Kind of hard to have a 20 year rebuild when there wasn’t even a Cleveland Browns team in existence during the time frame that you refer to.

  7. Officialgame-

You didn’t mention the ”good team” that you root for. If it’s Houston, they’ve also never been to a Superbowl and only made the playoffs 7 times in their entire history. If it’s the Steelers, they haven’t been to the Super Bowl in 6 years, so your argument is invalid.

  8. In all fairness, Jamie Collins was good as cut by BB at that point. I’m sure the Pats were happy to get something in return regardless.

  9. Maybe you should actually read the post you quoted before your long rant. He never said anything about winning. Yes, everyone knows the Browns suck. Thanks for typing that all out for us, captain obvious. Now, go to bed. You have school tomorrow.
