Tom Brady on whether there’s any chance he retires after 2017: “No. No.”

Whether it’s because the Patriots win a sixth Super Bowl and the GOAT decides to walk away or because Father Time will be whacking him with whatever Father Time’s weapon of choice may be (I prefer the giant hourglass) or because Mrs. Brady finally puts her foot down, many think that 2017 could be Tom Brady‘s last season in football.

Many except Tom Brady.

Asked by Norah O’Donnell of CBS in a sit-down interview promoting his new book whether there’s any chance he’ll retire after the season, Brady said with a smile: “No. No.

This means there is a chance that the Patriots will decide, based on his actual performance in 2017 and his projected performance in 2018, to go with Jimmy Garoppolo and that Brady will, if he’s not retiring, have to choose between being a backup or leaving New England. Given that we’ve seen so many other franchise quarterbacks end their careers with a different franchise, it wouldn’t be shocking.

But it would nevertheless be stunning to see Brady wearing a uniform other than the only one he has worn since entering the NFL a full 17 years ago.

  1. He still has to break Peyton’s few remaining records, and help Goodell carry his boxes to his car when the ratings tank another 10%. Time enough.

GOAT!! LOL!! Trivia question…who was President the last time the Patriots won the Super Bowl without the other team choking…

    ###

If you want to look at it that way, I guess we could say 30 teams choke every year at some point before the Super Bowl, leaving just two.

So, I guess you could say, last team to choke wins it all.

    I’m OK with that.

  3. TB12 has earned the right to go out however he wants to go out. For all he;’s done for me as a fan, I’d support him going 6-10 for the next decade if that’s the path he chose.

  5. Week 1 and their shoving retirement questions down his throat. Ya’ll are gonna be upset be the end of the season. Tom hates it when you talk about him and retirement.

  6. He still has to break Peyton’s few remaining records
    ================================
Nah that’s for Brees to do. Brees will have the majority of Top 5 overall QB statistics before he retires but Brady is not far behind.

  7. Wone loss to a very good team and all the so called experts are already writing about him be forced to retire or where he will play. Take Aaron Rodgers advice..R E L A X. Its one bad game. He is the GOAT but, he is also human

  8. Wrong answer! Getting fancy instead of kicking the game winning field goal is the definition of choking.

  9. Records……

There’s only one record worth chasing. That’s what keeps driving Brady. He’s one of the most driven guys the league will ever see.

  10. Losing isn’t choking. The Patriots didn’t choke when they lost to the Giants, they just got outplayed and were the victim of 2 crazy catches. Having the game won and throwing it away on stupid play calls is choking.

Getting rid of Old Players it’s the Patriot Way
    __________
It’s every teams “Way” … yet they have the oldest QB, make any sense?

  12. Choking is the Donks losing the SB a few years ago what was it, 45-7? Losing a hard fought game in the waning seconds is not choking.

“Getting rid of Old Players it’s the Patriot Way”

So, the other 31 franchises don’t “get rid of old players”? Huh. Looking around the league I don’t see many other 40 year old players on the field. Maybe the 31 other teams do indeed “get rid of old players”.

  13. Giselle has spoken…..this will be his last year, but he is like Trump lying while smiling. Belicheat would not want Brady to tell his team mates too soon or they would tune out from his temperamental sideline rants. Brady wants to think he wears the pants in the family……wrong.

  14. Brady was recently asked what his favorite ring was. He answered, “The next one.”

That’s drive, man…try stopping that train!

  15. This will be his last year as a Patriot.. They would have already traded Garropolo if not! Plus the Pats will owe Brady and Garoppolo $40 something million next year!

Or getting fancy and not running Marshawn Lynch instead passing on the goal line for the go ahead TD. That too is a choke. This team could be 3-5 as easy as 5-3. And their annual cakewalk through the AFC East gives them an advantage over the rest of the league that has to play for their playoff spot. It’s the definition of a lack of parity.

And GOAT? Put him on a team without BB and he is ordinary. Put him back in a league where DPI was earned, it wasn’t a right, where hitting was expected and balls were kicked from the 35 and placed at the 20, not the 25. Those rule changes alone make him not the GOAT.

  17. Broncos lost to the Seahawks 43-8 the year before the GOAT had his fourth quarter comeback against them. 45-7 was the Colts colting it up in their AFC chumpionship after which they blamed the footballs.

  18. One day father time will defeat him – maybe soon or maybe when he’s 44 like Moon managed. And we know when that day eventually comes that every salty troll will come on here and proclaim “I told you so” – and so they did, pretty much every week for the 5 years. Being right so often you haters should spend more time playing lotto and not waste so much of your brilliant clever lives on PFT.

It’s going to be fun seeing what happens to the Steelers after Big Ben takes his final cart ride into the sunset at the end of the season.

  20. No comparison between the Seahawks in the 2014 and 2015 Super Bowls. In 2014 they were healthy and a team of destiny. Same as the Bears in 1985. In 2015 they went into the game hurt with Sherman only having 1 good arm, Thomas’ dislocated shoulder and Chancellor playing with an MCL tear. Jeremy Lane getting hurt on one of Brady’s interceptions opened up the field for his comeback and Cliff Avril’s injury reduced the pass rush. Even with all those injuries, the Patriots needed the Seahawks’ turnover to win the game.

I am looking forward to that moment also, but not with regret or apprehension. I am thankful for having seen Ben grow from an immature talented jerk to a talented responsible parent who doesn’t cheat the game or whine for calls on every play. As a fan for 35 years I realize times change as do the players. You have been spoiled by Brady and Belicheat…..are you prepared for a reversal of fortune? Don’t bring the Jimmy G mantra as he is really unproven and when Cheating Bill departs his replacement won’t fill half his shadow……so he will be happier first little man.

  22. the greatest of all time quarterbacks have won Super Bowls on different teams. If you want to be a goat prove your worth and start new on another team and win a Super Bowl until then you’re just a system quarterback on a cheating team.

  23. Brady will retire when he wants to, not when someone tells him it’s time to hang ’em up. I think the talk about his retirement will continue, not because of last week’s game, but simply because of his age. He has proven he can still play at a high level. I’m not personally a fan of Brady himself, but I do appreciate what he has accomplished in his career. He has earned not only a spot in Canton, but the right to leave on his own terms

The Pats in the Brady era have a higher winning percentage against the AFCN, NFCN and NFE than they do against the AFCE so what division would you rather put them in? Of course you knew all that.

Cheating is another matter then!! Got it!

  26. His legacy is already cemented, GOAT SYSTEM QB. Anything he does from here on out within the Patriots system is just icing on the cake.

  28. Brady will go down in history as the greatest system QB of all time. Hall of Fame system QB no doubt.

  29. The only upside of seeing The GOAT leave Boston will be watching all those who futilely tried for years to deny that he was the best ever, beg him on their knees to be their QB.

  30. While he may have more Super Bowl rings than any QB ever, has ANY player ever been able to flash 6 Super Bowl rings? That’s your answer. That’s his currency, and there’s still money on the table…
