The Rams will host the Chiefs in Mexico City in 2018, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced during his press conference Wednesday.

The league will determine the date and the time of the game later this spring. It becomes the fourth international game the league has confirmed for next season, adding to the three previously announced games in London.

The NFL has played games in Mexico City the past two seasons, and Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism and the league jointly announced an extended agreement to play games there from 2019-21.

“Over the past two seasons, we have seen the extraordinary passion that exists for NFL football in Mexico,” Goodell said. “We are excited for another memorable event at Estadio Azteca.”

  1. It would be neat if they played in St. Louis instead. They already have a stadium and everything.

  2. Looks like the Chiefs are replacing the Raiders as Mexico’s home team. That’s what happens when you are a small market team that cant win playoff games.

  3. So I would like to know if season ticket holders get 1/8 of their money back if a home game is moved to a different venue. Is a season ticket package reduced if there are only 7 home games vs. 8?

Out-of-country games are usually announced before teams send out yearly invoices for season ticket packages. If your team plays in one as the home team then your season ticket invoice is adjusted to reflect nine games — two preseason and seven regular-season — as opposed to the usual 10 (two and eight).
I would assume that if a home game is changed to another city for some other reason, like a natural disaster or something, then a 1/10th refund would be issued to season ticket holders.
The real crime is forcing people to pay full price for two preseason games as a pre-requisite for buying your season ticket package.

  5. Wouldn’t it be funny if the Mexican authorities arrested them as they got off the plane and put them on a bus back to the U.S.A.?
