The Jets and Lions have effectively swapped centers.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Jets are signing former Lions third-rounder Travis Swanson.

He visited last week, and has 42 starts in four seasons.

The Lions didn’t need him after signing former Jets starting center Wesley Johnson last week.

  1. Essentially, this is a swap of centers between Detroit and NYJ. History will show that the Jets got the better part of this exchange…

  2. Wesley Johnson was terrible, and Travis Swanson can barely stay on the field with concussion problems. It would seem that Swanson is a depth signing for the Jets, since they’ve already inked Spencer Long, whereas Wesley Johnson is likely expected to start for the Lions.

  3. And this completes the deal where the lions and jets each signed the other’s bad centers.

  4. Dude started off slow then developed into a stud. A brain injury ended his past two seasons which forced us to move our best guard to center, thus leaving a gaping hole at guard.

Anyway, as much as I loved Travis, I’d rather have the guy that hasn’t had his season end (TWICE) from brain injuries.

  5. I notice the Jets are loading up on offensive linemen. Does this mean the Jets might draft someone other than a quarterback? Saquon Barkley? Stay tuned on this one.

No suspense there. The Jets are definitely selecting a QB. The question is which one. I’m partial to Rosen but rest assured no way they are picking anything other than a QB
