PFT Live: Brady ready to crush a rookie QB

Tom Brady is signed on to quarterback the Patriots for another four years and though Mike Florio reckons New England draft a passer to succeed Brady, Tom Curran thinks it would only push Brady harder. “If it’s to push Brady harder,” Curran says. “What you’ll see is what you saw in 2010 when Ryan Mallet was drafted in the third round. Brady will tear the heart out of the kid and show it to him while it’s still beating.”

PFT Live: Patriots talk with Tom Curran, PFT Planet calls and tweets

Bill Belichick AP

We’re inching ever closer to the draft, which kicks off three weeks from today with the first round from New York City.

The Patriots won’t be selecting until late in the first round, assuming, of course, that they don’t trade out of the 29th spot. Tom Curran of CSN New England will join Mike Florio on Thursday’s edition of PFT Live to discuss the possibility of Bill Belichick doing that and what the Patriots might do if they wind up staying put in the spot they earned with their latest AFC East title.

Florio will ask the questions during that segment, but he’ll also be answering questions about the Patriots, the draft or anything else on your mind right now. PFT Planet can send their questions in via Twitter — @ProFootballTalk — or by giving a call to 888-237-5269 during the show.

It all gets started at noon ET and you can watch it all live by clicking right here.

The Jets hosted running back Chris Johnson on a visit on Tuesday, but Johnson left without signing a contract with the team.

On Wednesday’s edition of PFT Live, Mike Florio will welcome Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News as a guest to discuss the possibility that Johnson will wind up in the Jets’ backfield for the 2014 season. Mehta reported that the Jets won’t “overpay” for Johnson and we’ll see what kind of parameters they’re working with for a potential deal.

We’ll also delve into some draft talk during Mehta’s visit and we can do a lot more if that’s what PFT Planet wants to hear about. Florio will again be fielding your questions during the show, so send them in on Twitter — @ProFootballTalk — or give a call to 888-237-5269 during the show to let us know what’s on your mind.
