It’s nearly impossible for the Packers to tag Flynn. Once he signs the offer, and he would be a fool to even let the ink dry before doing so, the $14 mil counts against the cap. The Packers don’t have the cap space and would immediately be over it. They would have to start dumping players (Driver & Clifton alone won’t cut it).

The other problem of course is it’s against the CBA to tag someone with the intent of trading him. The teams who havve done it in the past could make a case they intended to keep the player but got a good offer for a trade. Green Bay could’t make such a case for paying a back-up QB that kind of money since no one would believe they intended on keeping him@ $6 mil more than the league MVP. It would seem many teams would immediately file a complaint and how could Goodell do anything but rule against the Packers in that case.

I’m a youngish Steelers fan and my rule has always been you have the right to brag about any championship you were alive for. I don’t go around boasting my team has 6 rings, and it’s even worse hearing fans boast about what their team did pre-Super Bowl era. The past is the past.

With that said, I just thought it was funny seeing a Bengals fan trying to say their team was better because they made it to the playoffs with a lower salary, like that really means anything. Pittsburgh had the better record and won both games vs them, they were the better team.

Yeah, I know, the Dolphins are dumb enough to fall for this BS…Yes, they are dumb, but not dumb enough…and, oh yeah, I forgot, instead of playing the foot like the Chiefs did signing Cassel, maybe Ross and Ireland have learning a thing or two, don’t fall for it, and draft Tannehill instead (OC Sherman WAS his coach at A & M after all). And you do realize if the Fins give Flynn a ridiculous 14 mil, they will probably not be able to sign their draft picks? Like I said they are dumb, but not completely stupid!

If the Packers are too egotistical to try this crap (because Philbin is in Miami), they deserve to eat crow…and Flynn’s 14 mil!

Dumb? yes, but I just can’t see Ross and Ireland being gouged like that…

That’s not the rule. An NFL owner can own a team in another sport in any city he wants, as long as that other city does NOT have an NFL team owned by somebody else. For instance, Paul Allen owns the Seahawks as well as the Portland Trail Blazers, which is okay because there is no NFL team in Portland.

Wait what part of “the team is not expecting to franchise tag” mean they will not tag him.

Ever think Buffalo does not intend to use the Tag on him because they plan on signing him long term before FA.

But again we need to continually twist words son people can call a hall of fame owner cheap at every chance they can.

“We’re going to have some fun” scares the crap out of me coming from Nike. The NFL says the teams have control over logos and colors, but you know what? All those college teams have control too, and they all got sucked in. New fabrics, cuts and the like are fine. But don’t try to make the NFL look like the XFL.

(And if I could make a personal request, get rid of the stupid name and number font the Eagles use. Block numbers and sans serif letters, please.)

I’m going to create all kinds of hate & discontent with my proposal, but here goes:

Scrap the Pro Bowl as we know it, and replace it with a midseason equivalent to MLB’s All-Star game. The winning team determines the Conference team that gets to host as Home in the Super Bowl.

No more of this political Olympics-esque b/s with constant rotation between all of like five cities. A Superbowl in Lambeau because the NFC won? A Superbowl in Buffalo because the AFC won?

Let the home team really have an advantage. And let the Pro Bowl actually mean something.

I think tagging flynn is a risk-free proposition. What is the worst case scenario? They trade him for a 5th rounder. Even if they can’t get a 1st or 2nd round pick for him, some team will be willing to trade a lower round pick for him. I think it is a no-brainer.

You know what I think hurts his marketability more?

Not being able to beat out awful-to-sorta-awful QBs like Derek Anderson, Charlie Frye, Bruce Gradkowski, Ken Dorsey, Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow.

He should call Troy Smith and suggest starting a bowling team.

An 8-8 TD-INT ratio, a 70 QB Rating, and a 54% completion ratio isnt exactly getting it done. Its impossible for your team to win playoff games BECAUSE of a QB posting those stats. Very possible to win playoff games DESPITE a QB posting those stats, like the Ravens do.

As far as the Patriots game, not only did the Ravens lose the game, he made some terrible decisions in the 4th quarter.

1. Throwing an INT to spikes into triple coverage
2. Leaving 4 points on the field on 2nd and goal on their 2nd to last possession by not spotting your wide open full back RIGHT in front of you for a walk in touchdown.
3. After the infamous Evans play, having no interest to get the first down on 3rd and 1 inside the 10 even though he could have crawled for it.
