ROETHLISBERGER IS DAY TO DAY

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had to leave last night’s game against the Redskins, but the early indications are that he’ll be ready to go Sunday against the Colts.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that preliminary tests of Roethlisberger’s shoulder revealed he has a bruised AC joint, and he is expected to be day to day. Further testing will be done today and it’s still possible that a more serious injury to the shoulder will be discovered, but for now there does not appear to be any ligament damage.
This is the second time this season we’ve had reports on Roethlisberger’s AC joint. In September Roethlisberger gave a series of bizarre non-answers when asked about his shoulder, and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin took umbrage with NBC reporting that Roethlisberger’s AC joint sprain constituted a shoulder separation. As it turned out, Roethlisberger himself was the source of NBC’s report that his shoulder was separated.
For now, though, indications are that Roethlisberger’s shoulder will be OK.

  1. With the Steelers O-line as bad as it is, Ben should just wait til he’s 100% before coming back. He’s had no time back there all year and it’ll only be worse if DCs smell blood in the water.

  2. Leftwich played better anyway. Roethlisberger is overrated. He’s really lost his “luster”, if he ever had any, since that Super Bowl year. He’s like the Brett Favre of Pittsburgh, he can do no harm.

  3. Let Lefty come in and play while he gets better physically. And if Byron plays well while he’s out it could maybe light a fire underneath him and he can get better mentally. All I know is something ain’t quite right in both departments this season.

  4. Leftwich was taking a lot more short drops than Roethlisberger. It’s amazing that when the ball comes out quicker the offense runs smoother. Arians is in love with Ben throwing deep. Maybe he’ll wise up a little.
Hard to believe Leftwich was unemployed going in to the season. He looks to be in great shape and can really rip the ball with that big wind up.

  5. And the Oscar goes to……Shut up and play you puss! J have never seen a player play to te camera the way Ben does. He is always wincing or making those faces of pain….
The fact of the matter is…..Ben is a VAGINA!!! Shut up and play football puss boy!!
I only hope that Ben is playing when the Ravens play the Steelers next…I dont know that I want to face Byron!
The only thing about Byron is that he need to lose that man-purse he had on last night!

  6. Leftwich came in and played well, but I don’t think people should be bashing Roethlisberger quite yet. The guy’s been banged up this season, and the offensive line hasn’t done a very good job. With Leftwich being a very capable backup, Ben should sit out a week or two, get healthy, and I think his play will improve. I’m not a Pitt fan, but looking from the outside I’m reading people crushing the guy for many things that aren’t his fault.

  7. Steelers are in good shape with Leftwich (it pays to have a good back-up QB–ahem, Cowboys). Byron outplayed Ben. It seems like if Ben isn’t playing one of the AFC North patsies (Clownies, toothless Bunglers) he’s just another guy. I really think he is over-rated. He has to learn not to hold the ball–too many negative yardage plays; let Byron have a chance!!

  8. Ravenmaniac is such an intellgent fan (or girl).
Your choice of words speak volumes for all Raven fans and players alike.
    Loser.

  9. I don’t blame Roethlisberger for being a little shell-shocked. He’s been put on his arse more than any QB in football over the last 20 games. Until the O-line gets healthy, the receivers understand their “hot” routes, and Ben is willing to throw the ball away more often, they are going to struggle offensively.
BUT, THIS FREAKIN’ DEFENSE IS THE REAL DEAL! Harrison and Woodley are beasts. They are on pace to combine for 40 sacks this year. Are you kidding me?

  10. “This is the second time this season we’ve had reports on Roethlisberger’s AC joint.”
What? Ben is AC/DC? Oh, that was Kordell – never mind.

  11. How many times was Leftwich sacked last night? Now do people see that Ben is a significant part of the problem? He isn’t even the most sacked QB in the NFL, he is third, yet people constantly talk about his line sucking.

  12. Anyone who says that Big Gay Ben is better than Eli is either a Steeler fan or a joke of a football fan. How many times did Gay Ben hold onto the ball, take a sack or miss a wide open receiver last night. It was almost laughable. Funny how Leftwich had NONE of those problems. When a backup comes in and outshines your supposed franchise qb, there are real problems that need to be looked at. Ben is just another above average qb, who is lucky that he plays for a team that has such a stout d and running game. If he had to carry a team on his own, which Eli has done time after time, the Steelers would still be searching for “one for the thumb”.

Wow that was clever. Is this the part where I mention it was attached to your mother? You don’t want to play this game.

  16. Ahhh MaGoo you have done it again……Is this where I mention the quality time I spent with your mother??? Oh yeah….I want to play this game….
And now back to Football…….As I said, I only hope that Ben is healthy when the Steelers come to Baltimore. I honestly think that the Steelers offense is better with Charlie Batch or Byron.
This years Steelers reminds of the 2000 Ravens, a team with a mediocre offense and a really good defense. The only difference is the Ravens 2000 team had the best ever Defense (queue the Ravens bashers)!! All positions on that defense were solid. The Steelers have a really good D line and an outstanding linebacker core. James Harrison and Lamar Woodley are beasts!! I think the Steelers secondary (much like this years Ravens secondary) are suspect.

Our secondary is fine when we have Clark and McFadden on the field. Deshea has definitely finally lost a step. Ben’s beat up and trying to make too much happen but he’ll come around.
Did my mom bake you cookies and read you a story? BTW, tell your mom she left her teeth in the console of my car. I’ll leave them at her corner.

  18. Ben plays like a rookie a lot of times. Holding onto the ball is something I would expect from Joe Flacco not from a 5 year veteran. I am not sure who decided to pull Ben from the game last night, if it was Ben that would be the first time he has ever made a decision that benefited the team and not him. I think the Steelers 2006 season could have been much better had Ben not been an “all about Ben” guy and said hey.. I just ran my face into a windshield maybe I am hurting this team more than helping. If Charlie Batch would have been the starter atleast for the first half of the 2006 season the Steelers would have been way better than 8-8. This is why I hope Ben gets back to work soon!!
BTW, I’ll have you know my mom has all of her teeth..Cookies? Your mom did not bake me any cookies but she did toss my salad….

  19. My mom tossed your salad? I bet your boyfriend is pissed about that. I didn’t even know she’d visited anyone in prison. Oh well. Don’t worry about Ben, I’m sure you’ll get to see all you want of him. Tell Frankenberry I said hi and let Bart Scott know I sent Hines a note to ask him not to falcon punch him anymore.

  20. Michael Hayden, the CIA director was sitting in Rooney’s box. Obviously the CIA had a hand in infiltrating and fomenting unrest among the Redskin masses.
