AGENT: MCFADDEN DEAL SHOWS HE CAN DO BUSINESS WITH ARIZONA

In the wake of former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden agreeing to a two-year, $10 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals, McFadden’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic that the free-agent deal we reported earlier today is proof that Rosenhaus can find common ground with team officials. Because Rosenhaus also represents disgruntled Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin and running back Edgerrin James, there has been rampant speculation that the agent has trouble negotiating with Arizona team management. “This contract should put all that speculation to rest,” Rosenhaus told the Republic. “I know that people think my relationship with the team is strained, but when you have several clients with one team, you’re going to have situations come up.” According to the article, McFadden’s total of $5 million in guaranteed money to be paid out in 2009 includes a base salary of $3.75 million, a $1 million roster bonus and a $250,000 workout bonus. McFadden is scheduled to be paid a $5 million base salary in 2010, but that figure isn’t guaranteed.
