SMITH GOT 20 VOTES

An industry source tells us that, in the first round of voting for the new NFLPA Executive Director, DeMaurice Smith secured 20 of the 32 votes.
Per the source, six votes went to Troy Vincent.  The remaining six went to Trace Armstrong and David Cornwell.
After the results were reported, a motion was made to make the outcome unanimous, and the motion carried.
That said, the source explained that the owners often do the same thing — as Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports surmised earlier today.

  1. I’m pretty sure I know what “unanimous decision” means.
And I’m pretty sure it’s not that.

  2. I served on the board of directors for a food co-op and we did not like to make decisions that weren’t unanimous. But that doesn’t mean we all started out on the same page. Consensus building: the right way to move as a group.

  3. OMG THEY CONTRACTED 12 TEAMS JUST TO GET A UNANIMOUS VOTE?!?!
    That seems a little harsh.
