REPORT: RAIDERS' CORNELL GREEN BEAT WOMAN WITH MOP HANDLE

Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Cornell Green was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in Tampa, Fla., after beating the mother of his two children with an aluminum mop handle, according to an Associated Press report published in the Tampa Tribune.
Green was reportedly arrested while waiting to board an airplane to Oakland on Saturday. The 32-year-old former Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman is being held without bail, according to jail records.
According to police, Green allegedly “slammed” Teriyonal Flowers against a wall before hitting her with the mop handle at least once on the right arm at their home in Tampa.
Green left the scene following the domestic incident, but police became aware of his plans to catch a flight and arrested him at Tampa International Airport.
According to NFL.com, Green started every game last season for the Raiders.  The former University of Central Florida player has previous stints with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets.

  1. Cue the comments about the Raiders signing thugs… First arrest in years… What an idiot – hoping Al cuts him loose just like he did Fabian Washington.

  2. Expect him to sign with the Raiders…oh wait, he already plays for them. Any truth to the rumor that the Bengals are interested in a trade for him?

  3. I’ve never heard of Cornell Green, but I think I can guess what kind of player he is from reading this. Probably soft, probably a pussy.

  4. Memo to Mr. Green:
Your supposed to bring that kind of aggression and passion to the football field, against DE’s and LB’s,not the mother of your children,idiot…..

  5. I’d always heard the phrase ‘mop the floor with someone’ but I thought it was a metaphor.

  6. how long before women figure out that we don’t like to tell them twice to do something. If you gotta be told more than once, there is going to be consequences!!!!!

  7. LMAO.
Violence against women is never funny. (lmao!)
    A mop handle.
But in all seriousness anything can be considered a deadly weapon if applied the right force. A friend of mine got a rested for throwing a plastic toy phone at his wife and they said it was a deadly weapon.

  8. “Cue the comments about the Raiders signing thugs… First arrest in years…”
Sure if you don’t count Tommy Kelly’s arrest last September. Or Bryant McNeal’s arrest in July of ’07.

  9. Truth is the Raiders do have a clean record the past 10 years. The comments you hear are from hating dinosaurs and their stereotypes.
In related news, Green said she beat him to the edge.

  10. “how is a mop handle a deadly weapon? ”
When a 6’6″ 320 pound offensive tackle starts beating somebody with one.

  11. Ahhh, now you wanna hit people with mop handles. Now I gotta cut ya.
Ohh sp npw you gonna shoot me in my pinky toe.

  12. Hopefully he will find his way quickly out of the league and into a jail cell. Maybe he can change, but it ought not to happen on any NFL team’s watch. It wouldn’t matter if he were a pro-bowler. Good riddance.

  13. I guess he wasn’t hardcore enough for the Bucs since he just used a mp handle. The Bucs would rather pick up the rapists.

  14. He’s as good as gone if he’s convicted. The Raiders just signed his replacement anyway.

  15. I think anything is considered a deadly weapon when the person weilding it is 6’6″, 315lbs.

Domestic violence is so amusing. Jerkoffs.

  17. “Deadly weapon” means anything that can be used to kill someone. It is not limited to a knife, gun or such like. There is a case that every law student learns about someone who threw an ink pot (obviously an old case) at someone in anger and killed the person. He was charged with using a deadly weapon. Since the weapon killed the person, it was deadly. Welcome to the wonderful world of law.

  18. Shouldn’t the “Days without an Arrest” Meter be reset to 0? Or, is it simply implied that a member of the Raiders gets arrested every day?

  19. lol @ dan..maybe next time she wont make the same mistake of disobeying the man of the house

  20. Another 300+ LB “man” feeling the need to show how tough he is by beating up his lady.
I guess he wanted to know what Shawn Merriman felt like when he faced him twice a year…

  21. Well that’s one way getting rid of that LOSER. He couldn’t hit Schit when he’s on the O Line. She should have swung back. He can’t block crap. She might have done some good.
Seriously, domestic violence is not a laughing matter. Green armed with a mop handle is picturesque headline that depicts his only way of becoming an aggressive lineman. This guy does not even deserve to ride the pine – which is what was in store for him this upcoming year. Just cut his sorry a$$ and move on. Super Mario can be moved to the right side and no doubt do a much better job. Adios, butthole. Your 15 minutes of fame is over.

  22. Would have been enough to say he HIT her; didn’t have to be changed to “beat” her. If he hit her, he hit her (at least once, on the arm). One hit doesn’t constitute a beating. You say beating & I see somebody whacking away at a huddled figure bleeding on the floor, one blow after another. In other words, a much bigger event.
A few days ago, an Australian online paper stated that Liam Neeson’s life was on hold and his career in limbo, in connection with the death of Natasha Richardson. One person probably wrote the body of the story and another the headline, but both were at fault. The body of the story included the career in limbo phrase, and the headline plucked it out of paragraph 6 (bypassing issues such as the accident itself, the hospital vigil, telling the children, plans for the funeral, etc.), and converted it into a headline that (the man’s life was on hold) that conjectured and distorted.
Neeson’s life isn’t on hold. He’s LIVING his life, the central part of it. It’s only that he stopped filming (in other words, he left the office) in order to handle a far more important issue, the death of his wife and all that that involved. Just stating what happened is enough, no need to amp it up.

  23. This smells fishy.
A mop handle is awful long to swing at someone inside a house and not hit something else first, presumably table, chairs, kitchen islands… Now if he was Donatello, or any non-turtle ninja, then Id believe it.
Also, assuming the slamming came first, he would have grab the mop handle and take several steps backwards before swinging it, most people would cool in that time, just saying. Mop handle seems like a tack on in a “and then, and then, and then, he hit me with a mop handle” kind of way. Or, dude’s an animal, im sure someone’s investigating it.

  24. Domestic violence is a serious issue in our society you bastards.
    Signed,
    Orenthal
    Rack him!

Have a 6’6”, 315 pound athlete smash you across the skull with an aluminum handle, then come back and let us know.

  26. Yea real funny story. Nothing better then a woman getting beat right? Maybe Green isnt the scumbag, the scumbags are the people on here who find humor in this situation.

  27. beating the mother of his two children with an aluminum mop handle
hitting her with the mop handle at least once on the right arm
These two items might be describing the same thing, but they bring completely different reactions to mind.

  28. Isn’t it about time we pass some common sense mop control legislation? We’ve got to do everything we can to keep mops
out of the hands of children.

  29. Here’s something funny but true . Cornell went to UCF and majored in CRIMINAL JUSTICE. Classic.

  30. IF THIS IS TRUE, (since we only know her side of the story), Al Davis will cut his ass asap.
No way he puts up with this.

It’s true, everything is bigger and better in Texas.
A DUI (Tommy Kelly) and ripping off a pawn shop (Bryant McNeal) don’t compare to Big D, nope.
Multiple kiddie didlers, dope traffickers, and a Cowgirl stealing $64,000 from his own mother are just part of the infamous
“TOP 10 DALLAS COWBOY ARRESTS OF ALL-TIME” list.
    Congrats, Vox.
