Alphonso Smith's Dance Card Filling Up Fast

Highly regarded Wake Forest cornerback Alphonso Smith is in heavy demand from NFL teams, according to a league source.
Per the source, Smith is scheduled to visit the Oakland Raiders, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New England Patriots.
Projected to be drafted within the first two rounds, Smith is an All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection who was named third-team All-American last season.
The instinctive 5’9″, 193-pounder has 4.47 speed in the 40-yard dash and a 34-inch vertical leap.  The only real knock on him is a lack of ideal height.
Smith is the ACC’s all-time leader with 21 career interceptions.

  1. i hope titans get him in the 1st..hes who i want. not often you can get a top 10-15 talent with the 30th pick..heights not really an knock for us..look at who we’ve signed and drafted.pacman 5’10, cortland finnegan 5’10 vincent fuller 5’10, and nick harper 5’10…whats 5’9 not much when you know how to make up for it

  2. Only real knock? He constantly gets out muscled by bigger receivers (and there are a lot of receivers bigger then him). I don’t know how much I would trust him in a man to man system. Probably will be a serviceable #2 in the league but not too much more. I don’t see him going before mid-second. The other knock…. he is repped by that ass-clown Rosenhaus.

  3. I don’t see Oakland being truly interested unless there’s something wrong with Stanford Routt or he has ability to change to FS (which he is way too small for). We already have the top CB’s in the league.

  4. have the cowboys worked out anyone? i never see their name on the list of teams that worked a player out

  5. Just what the Pats need, another 5’9″ corner who can’t match up against taller, more physical receivers.

  6. Just what the Steelers need another short db. I’m sure the guy can run and has a good vertical, but we already have Townsend and Carter and they give up pass plays because of the height differential.

  7. I guess I can’t see where the Vikings need another Corner back when they have fourof the hardest hitters in the league right now going under the radar.
I don’t know but maybe the writer here needed to add a couple more words into his post.

  8. Outside of the 6’3 kid from Utah, who the heck IS tall coming out in the draft? I’d luv to see the Steelers take him at the end of the 1st round. This guy had 21 INT’s in college & can help in return gm. Ike Taylor drops so many potential INT’s that this guy could make up for him.
