Dolphins Eyeing Norfolk State Cornerback

The Miami Dolphins are keeping a close eye on Norfolk State cornerback Don Carey, according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com. Dolphins secondary coach Todd Bowles traveled to the Tidewater area a day before Carey’s Pro Day to meet with the defensive back. Then, Bowles orchestrated the drills at the campus workout. A 5-foot-11, 192-pound cornerback who has also played safety, Carey registered a 32 1/2 inch vertical leap and a 10-2 broad jump to go with a 4.20 in the short shuttle and a 6.87 in three-cone drill. Carey didn’t run the 40-yard dash after covering the distance in 4.49 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine where he also bench pressed 225 pounds 18 times. Carey had a strong showing at the East-West Shrine Game, according to several published reports.
