Favre Working Out With Local High School, Again

Quarterback Brett Favre has remained publicly silent about his possible Second Annual Unretirement. But his actions might be telling the whole story. Jim Souhan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune recently reported that Favre again is working out with a Hattiesburg high school team. “His arm is there,” said J.D. Simpson, friend of Favre and chaplain of the Oak Grove high school team, told Souhan. “He’s had the same problem with his left arm that he’s having with his right. He told me John Elway had the same problem in his last year. It’s a certain throwing angle or motion that hurts. It doesn’t hurt all the time, though, and just looking at him throwing, you can’t tell there’s anything wrong with it.” To prove his point, Simpson had this to say: “I help out with the receivers, and he threw a few that bounced off some facemasks out there.” So either Favre can still bring the heat, or Troy Williamson has some young cousins in Mississippi. Regardless, even if Favre told Vikings coach Brad Childress last week that Favre won’t be playing, we simply won’t believe it until Favre isn’t lining up under center for Minnesota in Week One. “I think this decision is tougher for him than any of them,” Simpson said. “He really sees Minnesota as a legitimate team that can go all the way. I think in his mind he was retired, but the quality of that team makes this a tough one.”
