Rex Ryan Says He Doesn’t Plan To Kiss Belichick’s . . . Rings

Jets coach Rex Ryan, in a wide-ranging Wednesday interview with WFAN’s Mike Francesa, addressed the arch-rivalry between the Jets and the Patriots. And Ryan sounds ready to take off the gloves. “I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick’s, you know, rings,” Ryan said. “I came to win. Let’s just put it that way. So we’ll see what happens. I’m certainly not intimidated by New England or anybody else. . . .” Asked by Francesca whether his team needs to send a message to the Patriots, Ryan offered up a vague response that hints at some behind-the-scenes skirmishes that already have unfolded between the two franchises (separate and apart from the whole “Spygate” thing). “I think we already have sent a message to them,” Ryan said. “So they can read between the lines. . . . They can figure it out. And when they come here that second week of the season, we’ll see.” We’re not sure what the message is. And we have a feeling it’s going to bug us as much as that favor Apollo Creed wanted in Rocky III.
