Favre's Family, Friends Prepared For His Return

Brett Favre’s family and friends are apparently convinced that the veteran quarterback is going to play football this season for the Minnesota Vikings.
Judging by the high volume of hotel reservations that Favre’s relatives and buddies have blocked off, they fully expect him to sign with the Vikings and compete against the Green Bay Packers this season.
According to Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Favre’s family and friends took the step two months ago of reserving 25 to 30 rooms at the Midway Motor Lodge near Lambeau Field for the weekend of the Packers-Vikings’ November 1 contest.
Is it wishful thinking or informed confidence that Favre is determined to end his retirement and play for the Packers’ NFC North rival?  It appears to be yet another piece of information that points toward Favre being determined to wear a Vikings uniform this season.
“They called and said if he goes to Minnesota they definitely want to be at the game,” Midway Motor Lodge hotel manager Doug Warpinski told the Press-Gazette, adding that Favre’s family and friends stayed at the hotel on a regular basis during the quarterback’s time in Green Bay.
Per the report, Favre’s “inner circle” can cancel the reservation in the next couple of months without owing any money.

Come on Jethro, we’ze going north to see cousin clem play footsball in Minnesota, YES CANADA! Got’s fishin, a rolla coaster in a thingy they call a “MALL” , What? Can you bring your sista? Of course, wouldn’t be a family vacation without her.

  2. Yeah hey der Stashes House of Cheese has an extra order of curds heading there for crips sake too.

  3. 2 months ago Is wishful thinking. He coulda changed his mind by now. That was before this deadline and this surgery.

  4. IT’s ON!!! Good luck Brett. Packers gonna kick your viking’s Trasero…….pero huge game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Good. That means a large number of Favre’s friends and family can not only see him lose to Green Bay, but they also get to see and hear him booed mercilessly by those in attendance at Lameau. That’s going to be some great television.

  6. Imagine the irony of Brett Favre in all his glory, looking great in his purple and gold…snowy day, everyone cheering…losing to the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers lead team. That would make me happy.

  7. Bunch of pricks, every one of them. Hopefully, they’ll go home with their King Jerk, tail between legs.

  8. I’ll be at this game if Favre is a Viking so I can watch all the panzy @$$ Packer fans talk about how bad Brett is now and How they don’t want him back after the end of last season.
Then they’ll be saying that Minnesota couldn’t win a super bowl without their QB and how bad the Vikings are.
Know what I have to say about that: “The Pack only won 1 in 17 seasons with Favre”.
Oh by the way, what’s that shiny thing on your finger AP?!?!

  9. hey AP what’s that shiny thing on your finger?!?!
that’s what the packs gonna be saying come February.

  10. cyclone…
when you have to clarify your joke. ummm. not funny.
Here’s what gets me about this article.
Is it anybody’s business where Favre’s family and friends plan to stay?
I mean c’mon, this manager of the Midway motor lodge should be fired
or at least Favre’s family and friends should find a hotel with a manager who understands
    DISCRETION can be useful.
Especially when there are surely some pack fans out there who want to tar and feather not only Favre but his ‘family and friends’.
    Dumbass.

  11. This is just getting out of hand. Who cares if people in favre entourage gets some hotel rooms.

  12. so if bf is motivated by revenge…what is he gonna do if the packers beat the vikings team he is “leading” two (or perhaps three) times this year?

  13. Go Bret go. Vikings win Super Bowl, sold-out tickets, huge TV audience including the critics, good business, and a new stadium.

  14. Hop on the Favre train because were….(Will Smith kicks in…) “Goin’ To Miami!” ; )

  15. I absolutely loved Favre, but after what he did to the Packers he deserves nothing but losses with the Vikings! TT and MM gave him every opportunity to “unretire” a year ago, eventually the team has to move forward and that is all the that the Packers did, they did not slight Favre, they did not push him out of Green Bay all they did was move forward with the decision that Rodgers is their QB, get over it Favre!

  16. The Vikings only need a QB who can do one thing … hand the ball to AP. Favre will never be satisfied in that role and he will end up being the gunslinger that throws the ball to opposing DB’s. Prepare to be let down Viking fans. You were 10 years too late in the Favre bonanza. Any ring that AP might receive while Favre is on the team will be in spite of him, not because of him.

  17. The shiny thing on AP’s finger could only be a booger. Favre may take the Vikings to the playoffs, but I wouldn’t trust him there. Philly in ’04, Giants ’07. He gave up in those games imo. Any quarterback that pisses away opportunities like that with throws like those is not one you should expect to be your savior.

  18. EXACTLY one year ago Favre was still a retired Packer for 5 months, and there was no talk him returning. What a difference a year makes with this person. Be careful what you wish for MN

  19. Get used to seeing lots of Viking coverage this year Packer fans. John Madden is coming back to further spoon feed it to ya.
Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson, The Williams Wall, Antoine Winfield, etc. The best of everything.
With Cutler in Chicago and Stafford in Detroit, who’s gonna be talkin’ about the Packers? ; )

  20. I know that I am in the minority as far as Vikings fans go but I will continue to say that I DO NOT want Favray on my squad. He is a headache and really is not worth the time or energy at this point. Let him continue this dance solo because we don’t need you. He will be nothing but a distraction in the locker room and really at this poing in his career is he that big of an upgrade over Sage or T-Jack? I honestly don’t think so.

  21. Critics: What part do you not understand?
    Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.
You would rather have them then Brett Favre?
News for ya: Kerry Collins and Kurt Warner were no spring chickens last year. They faired pretty well, don’tcha think? ; )

  22. 2 months ago is when they made the reservations?
2 months ago, wasn’t Favre still under contract with the NY Jets?
    Sounds like tampering.

  23. Minnesota is the most well-rounded, most talented team in every position, arguably EXCEPT quarterback. However, one user was partially right when they commented that all the quarterback needs to do is be able to hand it off to AP. Only now the Vikings have an exciting and sound air offense.
Point is the Vikings are just clearly the best team in the NFC north. The Packers will do better than last year but they still won’t be good enough to win the division.
The Vikings have the best lines, offense and defense. They clearly have THE best defense in the north, one of the best in the NFL now that the Steelers and Ravens have lost so many. Easily the best running game (Not just in AP, but also in Chester Taylor. The guy is just as good. Im just as excited when he goes in as when AP is in). And the recievers are all very good. They don’t even need a great quarterback to make great plays.
Look at Chicago last year. 99 1/2 yard TD pass to Bernard Berrian. In the end I am interested to see if we get Favre. But he would be better suited on the sidelines teaching our current young quarterbacks instead of on the field. The only thing the Vikings need at QB is to not throw so many picks. Thats it.
The Vikings will win the NFC north, and the super bowl is the same as every year. Anybody’s GUESS. Of course I’m sure everyone here expected to see the Cardinals in the superbowl last year. Uh huh.

  24. It’d be fitting for BF to get the Vikes to the SB – only to have the Pats get their revenge on him there for the Tuna Bowl. Even the Pats sorry secondary from last year would manage 4 or 5 picks against BF.

  25. I don’t understand why i have had to sit through 18 seasons of his “most-over-rated-player” ass and now I have to invigor another dreadful season throwing my team down the poop shute.
He just doesn’t give up kicking it to us vikings fans.
I wonder how many games it will take until they pull him and put a quarterback in that has something left.
Just think the vikings head office will be paying his old ass about a million a game for 4 ints a game, because they buy into the rubish traitorish fans that believe he’s got something left.

  26. I was thinking the same thing, the manager of that hotel needs to be fired. He probably will be and then Brett will end up giving him tickets to a game. ESPN may make a movie about it.

  27. OK this is easy. The Vikes loose nothing -except a couple 13 . . 14 . . million dollars – if they do this. Its a no loose situation. If it doesn’t work out they still have the 2 guys they were going to go with anyway. They’ll sell a bunch of tickets. If he can’t do it anymore, then fine – you go with Sage on a bed of rice pilaf or T-jack(think we don’t know what it’s like to watch INT’S?) and except for the money you’re in the same spot anyway. Not sure why all the Florio haters even comment on this site if he sucks so much. Oh yea I do . . .cause PFT is the only place to get NFL news. Two months from now it’ll be Vick. Stop your bitchin . . .
    I always love that one . . .

  28. the hotel was booked prior to the draft ergo before his release. hmmmm proof of tampering???

  29. Having been there before, I wouldn’t stay in the Midway Motor Lodge again if they gave me rooms for free, the place is a dump. With all his money, you would think they would upgrade to at least a Motel 6.
And for all the Biqueen fans who are predicting a Superbowl, there is nothing more tiresome than this annual spring-time proclamation of the Queenies going to the Superbowl. At least you lead the league in one category but your powers of prediction fall woefully short of any type of accuracy as evidence by the fact the last time the Vikings made it to the Superbowl was over 30 years ago….and they lost……for the fourth time.

  30. Nothing against the Vikings, but I hope Green Bay kicks the living shit out of them in this game.

  31. “About two months ago” hmmm. Wouldn’t “about two months ago” be “about” early April? Because I’m pretty sure Brett Favre was still a retired Jet until the very end of April. If Brett knew well enough to tell 25-30 rooms worth of Favres to book for the Viks v. GB game in early April wouldn’t that bring into question how he knew that nearly a month before even being released from the Jets? Couldnt that be possible player tampering from Minny (assuming Jets didn’t know Brett was seeking movement to Minny); or If Jets did know, couldn’t GB act on their contract which all but prohibited them from dealing with Minny?

  32. “Minnesota is the most well-rounded, most talented team in every position, arguably EXCEPT quarterback. ”

    ————————————–
How’s that purple kool-aid taste? Fruity, I bet.
Most talented team in every position except quarterback? Wow. Their best wide receiver has never in his life topped 1,000 yards receiving. With or without 99.5 yard catches. And their passing defense was ranked 18th in the league.
They squeaked past the worst team in the history of professional football not once but twice. Wouldn’t a good team have blown them away (like the Packers did twice and the Bears did once)?
And they split games between the other two teams in the division. In fact, Chicago, Green Bay and Minnesota all went 4-2 in the division. Those three teams all split games against each other and swept the Lions.
Oh, and they barely beat a Giants team that played its starters for about one quarter.
Sorry, but you’re in for a rude awakening next season. The Vikings had several games fall right into their laps and odds are they won’t be as lucky in ’09.

  34. The Vikings do not have the best players at every postion besides QB.
The Vikings are not a QB away from a Superbowl
Brett Favre hasn’t had “IT” in several years. His last good season his WR caught short slants and racked up YAC inflating Favre’s numbers.
    Farve chokes in playoff games.
After a decade and a half of thinking this guy could win the Packers a Superbowl, it’s absolutely hilarious to see Minnesota fans embracing Favre as their new God, after rooting against him for the better part of the last 20 years.
Please come back Favre, so the laughter can continue. While you many have lost most of your elite QB skills, you still are, for the most part, very entertaining.
Can’t run, lost his focus, new system, new players, arm is going….have fun w/ that SB run!

You’d think that the “Devil’s Advocate” could come up with something more clever than that stupid statement – and then posting it 3 times in 2 days.

  37. You guys are unreal, Favre played with the 2-14 NEW YORK JETS (It’s been awhile since Joe Namath.) last year almost led them to the playoffs if not for the shoulder injury. Two years ago he quarterbacked the Packers to a 14-2 record and had what statistically amounted to the best year in his career.
Favre has never played with a top flight running back, let alone, the best in the league in Adrian Peterson. Edgar Bennett? Dorsey Levens? Ahman Green? Good, but far from great. He has never had a top-flight receiver like Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Randy Moss, or Owens when he’s playing, rather than talking about it. Robert Brooks? Donald Driver? Javon Walker? Greg Jennings? Good, but not great. Sterling Sharpe was probably the best, but he was at the end of the road by the time Favre arrived. Reggie White was a huge addition for the Pack, but the Vikes have Jared Allen and then some on D.

  38. there is a big difference in what the Packers and Jets asked Favre to dop and what the Vikings are asking him to do.
The Vikings don’t need Favre to be Jesus Christ, they simply wabnt a competent QB who can make defenses pay fore the eight man fronts. With Adrian Peterson and Chester tailor, Favre can hand it off like Elway with Terrell Davis at the end of his career.
Remember all those passing records Elway set? It wasn’t until TD arrived that he won a Super Bowl with a balanced attack. He finished his career with back to back Super Bowl wins. He was really in his prime then. :::smirk:::

  39. jets were 4-12 pre-favre.
pack went 13-3 in favre’s last season there, 14-4 including playoffs.
vikes gave up a lot more points than a team with a stellar defense should. think about it.

  40. Mike FLorio… would you PPPPPLLLLEEEEEAAASSSSEEEEEE… address the likely oucome of the VIkings roster in terms of the QB position, if they in fact sign Brett Favre. That conversation would be interesting for many of the PFZ readers.

  41. YEAH go after all your fans and make them cry! Good thinking. Kill your future income and chances of a TV spot. Great thinking. All those Favre fans that followed you to NYJ and now to Minnesota have to root against their own team. Great thinking!
    Brilliance

  42. this has been in the works since last year. a devious plan designed by the threesome of childress, bevell, and favre. favre knew the jets wouldn’t be able to keep him on the roster with their salary cap, etc. he would be released and would be able to sign with the vikings. as far a percy harvin goes, favre had A LOT of say in that. ted thompson wouldn’t take favre’s advice on who to draft or acquire in free agency, but the vikings organization has been brainwashed by Lord Favre, and they are now puppets. Zygi Wilf will do anything favre wants, so plan on plaxico burress and pacman jones wearing purple this season too. if favre could, he would do anything possible to get his old sack of potatoes, donald driver, and old bag-of-doughnuts, frank winters in minnesota too. can mariucci be the assistant head coach, pretty please? what really sucks is that sage rosenfils is involved in all of this, and a young/developing quarterback with some potential in j.d. booty will be released because favre wants to play another year to “stick it” to TT. i’m not a big TT supporter, and have been a favre fan in the past, but i truly hope the packers organization (this is NOT a battle between favre and TT) “sticks it” to favre. this will be his lasting legacy. deal with it, brett.

  43. Some folks act like they are suprised over this this had been in the makings for almost two years he wanted to play for the Vikes lastyear.

  44. Not so sure I’d want it advertised where I was staying if I was a Favre family member returning to watch Lord Favre play for the Vikes in Green Bay — not just for safety, but it sounds like a dump, not that there probably are a whole lot of attractive options in the middle of Nowheresville.
Tampering? Sheesh, stop your whining and move on already.
Maybe he comes to the Vikes, and maybe the Pack kicks his ass that game. Yet, come on, the build-up and the game will be entertaining as hell. More important, the cheesers will have until November 1st to study their dictionaries to figure out how to spell the words “traitor”, “Benedict Arnold” and “Favre sucks” for their signage and chest painting.
No realistic Vike fan predicts Super Bowl if Favre plays for them — just that they are better off with him than T-Joke. Maybe it blows up in Klink’s face, but again, the 09 season would be entertaining as hell.

  45. GB Packer Favre owned Lambeau Field as one of the best WCO QB’s in the league. Last year, it took a couple of games, but he figured out to beat the AFC’s best 3-4 defenses (NE and TN) with the NYJ. Unfortunately, he took one two many hits and damaged his arm and the NYJ’s hopes of a dream season.
I hope Dr. Andrews managed to fix him up, because I want to see Viking Favre help Adrian Peterson and the rest of the MN squad beat the crap out of the Packers and their new 3-4 defense in Lambeau Field.

  46. “Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.
You would rather have them then Brett Favre? ”
Wait, you’d rather have BertFarve than Joe Montana or Troy Aikman?
“News for ya: Kerry Collins and Kurt Warner were no spring chickens last year.”
They weren’t washed up has-beens, either. Unlike BertFarve.

  47. “The Vikings don’t need Favre to be Jesus Christ, they simply wabnt a competent QB who can make defenses pay fore the eight man fronts. With Adrian Peterson and Chester tailor, Favre can hand it off like Elway with Terrell Davis at the end of his career. ”
See, this is where the logic of Vikings + Favre = Superbowl is flawed. This assumes that Favre will come in and be a role player. He is incapable of doing this. He’s never been a role player in his life nor does he want to. AP or no AP, he’s going to throw it up into triple coverage. He’s always been high risk/high reward. Chilly has absolutely zero chance of containing him and getting him to do nothing but hand off 35 times a game.

  48. “Sterling Sharpe was probably the best, but he was at the end of the road by the time Favre arrived.”
Yep. He was a four year vet when BertFarve took over in 1992. Clearly past his prime.

  49. CaptainFantasdik and Mile u r High
Vikes are talented and a snowy day in Greenbay on Nov 1st isn’t likely! I know I live in thes area, so conditions will be good and Favre will light up the GB secondary and All Day will pound the ground! The only the thing Aaron Rodgers will be doing is having the sophmore blues and throwing ducks!

  50. “The Vikings don’t need Favre to be Jesus Christ…”
IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THE VIKINGS WANT. BertFarve is bigger than the Vikings, don’t you get it? At least in his own mind.
“Favre can hand it off like Elway with Terrell Davis at the end of his career. ”
He can, but how is that going to cement his legacy?
“Remember all those passing records Elway set? It wasn’t until TD arrived that he won a Super Bowl with a balanced attack.”
Elway was unselfish enough to realize that if he was going to realize his dream, he had to change his way of thinking. And playing. BertFarve’s not that smart, as proven. He thinks that his arm is as strong as it ever was, and that’s what everyone around him tells him. The problem is that he still makes stupid decisions, and his arm isn’t strong enough to offset them anymore. What used to be frozen ropes that everyone was afraid to catch with their hands are now cute and cuddly rainbows that appear to be delivered complete with hand softener.

    2008 – Adrian Peterson: 363 carries, 1760 yards, 10 TDs, 9 fumbles
    2003 – Ahman Green: 355 carries, 1883 yards, 15 TDs, 7 fumbles
Green’s 2003 season looks better than Peterson’s 2008 season across the board, right? I didn’t even count receiving stats. Green also had 50 catches for another 367 yards and 5 more TDs. Statistically, that’s hands-down better than Peterson last year.
Favre never played with top-flight receivers? What, top-flight receivers like Bernard Berrian, Bobby Wade and Percy Harvin? Say what you want about how Harvin’s practicing. Until he steps onto the field and does it consisntently, he’s this year’s Peter Warrick. He’s done nothing.
Go ahead and prop up Favre, but we’ll (Packer fans) be laughing our asses off when he chucks up those lame ducks.
Oh, and 2007 was NOT statistically Favre’s best year. Not by TD passes, not by passing yardage, not by passer rating. Which statistic are you referencing?

Favre Elway. Favre was a great player in his prime, and in all honesty 2007 was a great year. Especially for a QB his age.
But Elway never chucked the ball around with reckless abandon like Favre does. Elway correctly understood his job. Favre thinks he needs to be the savior. You’ll see that in time. Sometimes it works out beautifully. Sometimes you want to claw your eyes out.

  56. By the way, for all the conspiracy theorists out there… 20-25 rooms reserved by a player’s family and friends does not constitute tampering by the Vikings. I would not at all be surprised to find out that the Vikings are guilty of tampering with Favre twice, but there’s simply no evidence to back it up.
As much as I’d love to see them nailed with a tampering charge, this story in and of itself won’t get it done. Now, if someone does a little investigative reporting and gets one of Favre’s inner circle to say Favre said he had talks with the Vikings during that time frame… Then maybe there’s a case the NFL could look at. But will the Jets press the issue? No. They don’t want anything to do with Favre. They’ve washed their hands of him. And the Packers are nothing more than a third party in this. The Jets would have to raise the issue, and I don’t see that happening.

kerry collins and kurt warner have had nowhere near the pounding on their bodies that brett favre has had. the man is falling apart. the other biceps tendon and shoulder will be next, then a knee, then a hip. then retirement. for good.

  59. After reading all these comments from Viking fans, with the possible lone exception of Vikesfan4life, you Minnesota fans really appear to be delusional as far as how flirting with Brett Fav-rah will ultimately turn out.
Most of you should have a clue considering the purple and gold bashed Favre’s brains in year after year and Favre’s well documented aversion to playing indoors, especially in the Metrodome, not to mention the countless other choke jobs orchistrated in both the regular season and post season- which surely Vikings fans reveled in – and which were directly attributed to Favre and Favre alone.
The guy is a team and coach killer, and ultimately has proven himself to be a quitter time and time again. The Vikings will suffer long term if they sign # 4. Viking fans appear to be the only ones not capable of seeing this.

  60. jimicos, great points on mnmavericks as far as your AP to AG comparison for 2003 to 2008. what i find even more offensive is that he is ACTUALLY comparing Jared “69” (WTF?) Allen to Reggie White. For real? Allen is in pee-wee league football compared to White!!!
