A $5.3 Million Benching?

In the wake of the news that the Eagles have given quarterback Donovan McNabb a no-strings-attached $5.3 million raise over the next two seasons, a reader has raised a great point. To the extent that this is the “financial apology” that McNabb reportedly wanted for his one-half benching during a late November loss to the Ravens, it was a huge one. We continue to be amazed by the Eagles’ decision to give so much money to McNabb without an extension, and we can’t imagine the move helping to bring the locker room together.
