UFL Draft Tonight?

Though we can find nothing on the official UFL web site or the web site devoted to UFL news (the advertising department has our condolences) regarding this event, we’re told that the four UFL teams will be holding a draft tonight. The four head coaches -- Jim Haslett, Jim Fassel, Dennis Green, and Ted Cottrell -- will be picking players in an effort to fill up their rosters. Workouts have been held in Orlando and Las Vegas, and players like J.P. Losman, Tim Rattay, and Ken Dorsey have been linked to the league. It’ll be interesting to see whether any of the coaches puts dibs on Mike Vick. Though Vick plans to pursue an NFL career, his only realistic fallback is the UFL. And the fact that he’d give instant legitimacy to the UFL might make Commissioner Roger Goodell more likely to reinstate Vick for the 2009 season. We’re in the process of trying to get more facts about the draft process, and when/if the picks will be announced by the league. UPDATE: A league official tells us that, indeed, internal player allocation will be occurring within the next day or so.
