Brian Mitchell Might Not Be Unemployed For Long

To start this day off, not long after midnight, we posted a blurb on former NFL running back Brian Mitchell’s contention that his employment with Red Zebra Radio was terminated because he had been too critical of Red Zebra’s sister company, the Washington Redskins.

Regardless of whether there’s any merit to that claim, Mitchell might not have to wait too long to get back behind the microphone.

Sheil Kapadia of philly.com points out that Mitchell served as a guest host last week with Howard Eskin of WIP radio in Philadelphia.

But it’s not clear whether Mitchell will become a WIP regular.

“When he became available, we decided to take a look,” station general manager Marc Rayfield told philly.com via e-mail. “Where we might potentially use him is yet to be determined but the feedback from our listeners has been tremendous.”

Mitchell spent ten seasons with the Redskins, from 1990 through 1999, before playing for the Eagles from 2000 through 2002. He finished his career with the Giants in 2003.
