Favre throws for Vikings coordinator Bevell

Earlier this afternoon, Mr. Florio predicted the relatively quiet recent buzz around Brett Favre was set to pick up soon.

And wouldn’t you know, we’ve now got some fresh news to devour.

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell evaluated Favre last week in a “rigorous” throwing session that included roughly 100 passes.

While this seems like another piece of evidence that Favre will join the Vikings, Werder’s sources include some cautionary information.

Favre reportedly was encouraged by his session, but he warned Bevell that Favre could delay a decision on whether to play until just before training camp opens on July 29.

It appears Favre still isn’t totally confident in his shoulder. He is reportedly worried about some “slight pain” and inconsistency in his throws. Favre hoped to have a decision by the end of June, but his uncertainty about the health of shoulder has delayed things.

If Werder’s report is accurate, it’s quite possible Favre won’t make a decision on his return until after Vikings tickets go on sale on July 20.

If the Vikings didn’t know it already, Favre is making it clear that he is operating on his timetable, not theirs.
