Dunta Robinson not planning to report to Texans camp

Dunta Robinson hasn’t signed his one-year contract offer as Houston’s franchise player.

And he doesn’t plan to sign it anytime soon unless the Texans are willing promise they won’t use it on him again next season.

As a result, Robinson won’t be at Texans training camp when it opens tomorrow, according to NFL.com’s Jason LaCanfora.

So whether you want to call him a holdout or not, Robinson is one of the few veterans who will withhold his services into August for leverage.

LaCanfora writes that its unclear how long Robinson is willing to hold out, but logic says that he won’t want to miss a weekly paycheck with his salary skyrocketing. (Robinson is due $9.96 million this season.)

Robinson is an elite cornerback when healthy, but the two sides may be struggling to come to an agreement because he underwent surgery for a torn ACL and torn hamstring in November of 2007.
