Signs continue to point to Vick and the Ravens

The fact that agent Joel Segal said during a visit to Redskins camp on Tuesday that there’s “no chance” Mike Vick will sign with the ‘Skins is causing some league insiders to cast an even stronger gaze on the franchise’s nearest NFL neighbor.

As one seasoned and astute league source put it, Segal has a reputation for making the most out of his business trips.  With no specific reason for him to attend Redskins practice, the educated guess is that the New York-based agent primarily was in the area on other business.

And that other business could include a visit with the Ravens regarding a possible contract for Vick.

As ESPN’s Chris Mortensen pointed out earlier today, speculation currently is pointing primarily to the Ravens.

UPDATE:  We’re now told that the Ravens have not discussed signing Vick, and based on information we have gathered we now would be shocked if they sign him.

  1. What a perfect match this would be. Ray Ray killed man. Vick killed man’s best friend. If this isn’t the perfect scenario I don’t know what is.
I can see it now, the NFL and NBC hyping up Sunday Night Football to showcase two murderers on Sunday night prime time TV. Let the Kiddos stay up late, role model time baby!

  2. god I hope not… Unless he’s getting a contract to be sizzle’s personal tackle dummy.

  3. WOW Florio you have really out done yourself on this one!!! That is some really solid information. I wish I had those kinds of connections!!! Your a complete idiot….I am not saying that Vick will not sign with the Ravens, but I am saying that this article tells us NOTHING!! So because you THINK Vicks agent went to Baltimore because he was in Washington and the cities are close,….. and because you KNOW that Vicks agent doesnt waste his time, then it OBVIOUSLY means that all signs point to Vick being a Raven. That is some stellar reporting.

  4. That’s unfortunate…
I was pulling for the Browns for the irony and entertainment value of watching Browns fans in the Dawg Pound brainwash themselves into liking Vick.
Of course that’s not all that different from the way they brainwashed themselves into believing that Mangini is a great coach who never wanted Brett Favre and was forced to name his son after him and accept him as the QB of the Jets.

  5. I’ll buy Mike Florio a new car if he bans tleg81 from being able to post on this site.
    I mean it.

  6. Lets not forget that Jason Campbell is in the last year of his contract. He also went through crap during the summer with the ‘Skins organization and the agent could be there trying to start negotiations with the Redskins for a contract extension.

  7. Mindf*** for young Flacco. From “promising first year starter” to “2nd year guy looking over his shoulder each day”, hope you enjoyed it while it lasted, Big Fella!
I’ve lost a lot of respect for the NFL in terms of how they staged and sanitized this whole thing, starring ESPN, Roger Goodell, Tony Dungy and Jesse Jackson, et al. It’s all rather unsavory.
And look for the coming fluff piece on 60 Minutes, as James Brown lobs lollypop questions to crocodile-teared Mike Vick. Poor little boy.

  8. Dude, I cant believe you’ve devolved to Dick Cheney logic on this one… Al-Qaeda might have had some dude in a city at the same time Sadam had some dude in the same city, ergo, there must be a connection…
BTW, Baltimore sports radio station (WNST) tweeted this:
    WNST-
“Our Ravens sources say “no way” the Ravens are involved with Michael Vick…feel free to retweet this to quell the insurrection ESPN caused!”
I’m actually surprised you haven’t said that this “story” is merely a ploy to motivate teams that are actually interested in MV. That would be more like the old MF I used to know…

  9. Ray Lewis didn’t kill anybody…by all witness accounts he was a peacemaker in that incident.

Yeah and those two murderers will guide us to a Super Bowl win. Us Ravens fans will take the responsibility of raising our own kids. Thanks. We pay players to win Super Bowls and not raise our kids. At least our players don’t leave our team during a championship game.

  11. Doesn’t appear likely. There’s too much invested in Troy Smith (who can do much of what Vick does without the baggage). He will be with one team or another in the next 3-5 days though. But don’t expect any team to invest too much $ in him. It will be a short term/incentive ladden contract.

  12. Falcons are birds. Ravens are birds. It makes perfect sense.
Vick will be a Baltimore Raven.

  13. CardHock funny! I bet him steeller fan too and like tasty, tasty cheeze in can also.

  14. why do so many people have a hard time understanding the term RUMOR? Or understanding when someone points out that this AND OTHER THINGS seem to point to the Ravens?
How many people live by the motto “I hate Florio and PFT but I read it 7 times a day”?
I’m sure he loves all those hits from people who criticize him with mindless drool for comments..

  15. “Your a complete idiot”
tleg81, when making statements on another persons intelligence, please try to appear intelligent yourself. The proper way to say that would be You’re. Now, just to let you know, you yourself need to say I’m a complete idiot as opposed to Im.

  16. hell he’s a thug anyway he should be right at home. Lewis and Vick can have their murderers row

  17. Queenie fans will really cry if this happens. First Favre screws them and now no Vick! I can hear the crying coming from Minneapolis and I’m laughing my ass off!

  18. Maybe the agent is trying to kiss anyone a** that would let him to generate hype. If he doesn’t represent anyone high pick holdouts I could imagine him doing this. More hype = higher chance for him to be signed.

  19. What kind of car?
    A #18 M’M’s diecast.
Sorry MF, best I can do. I hated tleg81’s comments.

  20. I hope that a team that never takes any responsibility for their actions takes Vick. He’ll fit right in. This is what he told kids at a basketball camp today.
***The free agent NFL quarterback, who last month finished a 23-month federal prison sentence for dogfighting, told a crowd of about 250 to “use me as an example for your dreams.” Vick also told them that after accomplishing his goals he “allowed someone who didn’t have my best interests at heart to take all that away from me,” according to a release from the school.***
