Several Eagles grounded for preseason opener

Eagles president Joe Banner recently asserted that his team has the “best roster in the league assuming everyone is healthy and standing at the end.”

The Eagles don’t even have everyone “healthy and standing” at the beginning.

Head coach Andy Reid this morning rolled through a list of Eagles who’ll be held out of the team’s preseason opener tomorrow night against New England.

Among the missing: Stacy Andrews, Shawn Andrews, Todd Herremans, Victor Abiamiri, Trent Cole, Kevin Kolb, and Cornelius Ingram, Trevor Laws, Matt Schobel, and Brian Westbrook.

Kolb, who sprained a left knee ligament Monday, remains on target to return in about a week, said Reid.

“He is feeling much better, but we will not play him in this game,” Reid said regarding Kolb.

Meanwhile, an Eagles source Thursday that the team is not pursuing Mike Vick.
