Maybin deal already done?

In response to our post indicating that the Buffalo Bills and defensive end Aaron Maybin are closing in on a contract that would end the eleventh overall pick’s holdout, we’re getting unconfirmed indications that, in reality, an agreement already has been reached.

Our wild guess? If an agreement has been reached, the Bills and Maybin also agreed to squat on the deal until after the August 22 preseason game at Green Bay.

The reason for waiting would be to allow the Bills to play their next game with the team’s current 80-man roster. If/when Maybin is officially signed, one of the current 80 players would have to be cut or placed on injured reserve to make room for Maybin, who surely wouldn’t get playing time in Saturday night’s game.

UPDATE: T.O. apparently didn’t get the memo.
