Ochocinco signs off Twitter, supposedly

Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco is abandoning Twitter.

Supposedly.

In back-to-back tweets posted earlier this afternoon, Ochocinco has said that he plans to pull the plug on his Twitter account.

“Due to the many rules the NFL has made I’ve found it difficult to enjoy Twitter and I’ll be deleting my account,” Ochocinco said.

He then followed his first tweet with this:  “I thank and love you all for following, hope you enjoyed getting to know the real me:  Esteban out.”

Why do we have a feeling that this is temporary, and that it might have something to do with Chad’s recent tweets about the signing of Andre Smith?

..as Roger Goodell stood over him with a loaded Glock pressed to his temple.

  2. The Twitter craze ends with Chad Johnson.
I refuse to type out his gimmicky last name.

  3. And the NFL Police crush yet another dream and civil rights of a enterprising talent, who only wants to practice his right of freedom of speech through teh interwebs.
How long before the NFL and Twitter announce a deal where the NFL can attach ads to players tweets and players are allowed to tweet away with their ‘Official NFL Licensed Twitter account’ – “Brought to you by Sprint, the official sponsor of the NFL’s Nit-Twits.”

  4. Now that Goodell seems to have put a damper on Twits who Tweet I wonder if he can do something for those dozen or so Teams who are threatened by blackouts because they can’t sell enough tickets ?

  5. Call him the Brett Favre of Twitter. I’m done. Now I’m back. Now I’m done. Now I’m back.

  6. This is muy mucho temporary. This guy can’t resist going more than a few days without having his ego stroked by the masses.

  7. What I also find funny is how people hate on the guy for trying to reach out to the fans of the NFL. It would be like complaining that Jay Cutler isn’t signing autographs, then if he were to go around handing people his autographs calling him an egomaniac. These guys can’t win.

  8. Twitter. A MASSIVE waste of time. Twitter is the fix for people during the day that can’t get enough reality shows on tv at night. Losers.

  9. Twitter is for idiots that don’t mind sharing their personally identifiable info with THE WORLD. He also has the all caps light on his computer, allows anyone to use his credit card, etc.

  10. Smell that, Bruce? That’s called “irony”.
Why are all those losers wasting their time on Twitter when they could instead be complaining about it in a rumor-mill internet forum? Man, tell those people to get a LIFE, eh Bruce?

  11. I would bet any amount of money that Ocho will be twittering during the first game under another alias. My guess is actually “Estaban out” and this is just a ploy in what will end up being an ultimate ploy.
