Colts start shaping their roster

The Indianapolis Colts have started the process of getting to 53 players by saying goodbye to four players.

Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports that defensive tackle Adrian Grady, cornerback Nick Graham, cornerback Dante Hughes and offensive lineman Steve Justice are looking for a new home. The agents for the players confirmed their departure from the Colts.

Hughes is the most interesting name on the list. Hughes was the 95th overall pick of the 2007 draft but never distinguished himself over 24 games with the Colts over the past two seasons. With Hughes gone, the Colts have only three of their nine 2007 draft picks on the roster and that number could still drop as defensive tackle Keyunta Dawson is a potential Saturday casualty.

Worth watching on Saturday is what the Colts do with safety Bob Sanders. Per Chappell, they still haven’t decided whether or not to activate him from the Physically Unable to Perform list. If they don’t that opens up one more spot but leaves them without their best safety for five games.
