Rams lose Carriker for the season

Another disappointing draft pick from the Scott Linehan era in St. Louis won’t help the Rams out this season.

2007 first-round pick Adam Carriker has a serious shoulder injury that will require surgery according to multiple reports, and the NFL’s Jason La Canfora reports that Carriker will miss the season.

One of the reasons coach Steve Spagnuolo looked like such a good fit in St. Louis was that he could help mold some of the high profile defensive line talent on the Rams. He won’t get a chance with Carriker, who has struggled with recurring shoulder and ankle problems since his rookie season.

Carriker was expected to start and help shore up the Rams’ weak run defense at defensive tackle. Gary Gibson and Clifton Ryan will likely man the two starting tackle spots after Carriker’s injury.
